Fube Biotech Closes A++ Round to Pioneer CNS Drug R&D Through Homegrown Innovation
Accelerate multiple novel neurological drug candidates into clinical trials.
4B Technologies Ltd. (福贝生物), a biotech company focused on developing novel drugs for neurological disorders, recently announced the completion of its Series A++ financing, co-led by Gaorong Ventures. Gaorong Ventures had previously led the company's Series A+ round in October 2019. Since its founding, 4B Technologies has raised a total of $25 million.
The company was co-founded by renowned neuroscientist Professor Bai Lu of Tsinghua University and former GSK Vice President Dr. Xiaoming Guan. Drawing on decades of accumulated knowledge, unique insights, and cutting-edge technologies in neuroscience and drug R&D, the founders have built a company focused on neurotrophic factor signaling pathways and neuroinflammation mechanisms, dedicated to developing innovative treatments for major neurological diseases including stroke, ALS, chronic pain, glaucoma, and Alzheimer's disease.

Over its two years of operation, 4B Technologies has assembled its core technical team, management team, and clinical team, and established a growing R&D pipeline. The company is now advancing its monoclonal antibody and small-molecule drug candidates toward clinical trials at full speed.
Dr. Xiaoming Guan, co-founder and CEO of 4B Technologies, said: "We're catching the best moment for innovative drug development in China, and 4B Technologies has grown very rapidly. We're pleased that our performance and potential have earned the recognition of our shareholders, and we thank our investors for their continued support. Our vision is to develop the best innovative drugs and build a leading innovative company. Several of our original drug candidates will enter clinical trials in the coming one to two years. Our team will work together with passion, wisdom, and execution to make our unique contribution to human health and China's biopharmaceutical industry."
A project lead at Gaorong Ventures commented: "The neurological disease field represents enormous unmet clinical needs and market potential, but new drug development is also highly challenging. 4B Technologies has inherent advantages — the team possesses distinctive insights and strategies in neuroscience. The products in its pipeline are all global first-in-class candidates with solid scientific rationale and experimental data. The management team comes entirely from multinational pharmaceutical companies, bringing rich hands-on experience and international vision, which is highly advantageous for expanding into overseas markets and establishing partnerships with global pharma companies. We are very optimistic about 4B Technologies and look forward to accompanying the company's long-term development."
According to reports, 4B Technologies also announced on February 9, 2021, an exclusive licensing partnership with Elixiron Immunotherapeutics, an innovative immunotherapy company, to jointly advance the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of the CSF1R inhibitor EI-1071 for neurological diseases and other indications. EI-1071 can potently and selectively inhibit and deplete microglia in the nervous system, effectively blocking neuroinflammatory responses that drive disease progression, slowing neural damage, and facilitating nerve cell repair. As such, the product has potential for treating multiple neurological diseases including stroke, ALS, and Alzheimer's disease.
