Hygea Medical Completes Series C+ Round, Expanding Multi-Pipeline Portfolio in Minimally Invasive Tumor Interventional Therapy
Led by technologies such as the Cryoablation System, a new generation of minimally invasive tumor treatments is driving oncology toward procedures that are less invasive, more precise, and increasingly intelligent.
Haijieya Medical recently announced the completion of its Series C+ round, with Gaorong Ventures as the sole investor — the company's second funding round in 2021. Haijieya Medical stated that the Series C+ proceeds will be focused on market and channel expansion, as well as accelerating the R&D and commercialization of its product pipeline.
Founded in 2010, Haijieya Medical is a national high-tech enterprise dedicated to minimally invasive tumor intervention and cryomedicine. The company has established the Beijing Key Laboratory of Cryobiomedical Engineering and a postdoctoral research workstation, and developed the Cryoablation System — the world's first combined cryo-thermal ablation system integrating deep cryogenic freezing and high-intensity hyperthermia — providing physicians with a comprehensive suite of minimally invasive tumor diagnosis and treatment solutions.

China has a substantial population of cancer patients. According to the latest WHO data, there were 4.57 million new cancer cases in China in 2020. With the arrival of an aging society, the high incidence of cancer will become increasingly severe, representing a massive market for tumor treatment. Compared with traditional tumor treatment technologies, minimally invasive tumor ablation offers advantages including minimal invasiveness, efficacy, and safety, and has become one of the fastest-growing tumor treatment modalities in recent years. After years of technical accumulation, Haijieya has built a comprehensive technology platform spanning "minimally invasive tumor intervention" and "cryomedicine," with over 130 patents and copyrights. Leveraging biomedical engineering technology and advanced instrument manufacturing processes, the company has developed the original Cryoablation System.

The Cryoablation System employs a minimally invasive percutaneous approach for targeted physical destruction of tumor tissue. Integrating the advantages of both deep cryogenic cryoablation and high-temperature hyperthermia, it achieves a broad treatment temperature range from -196°C to 80°C within a single fine probe — breaking through the limitations of previous single-modality cryotherapy or hyperthermia alone. The system offers thorough tumor destruction, no toxic side effects, short recovery time, minimal pain, and broad indications. Approved for market launch in 2017 through the "Innovative Medical Device" special review pathway, the Cryoablation System can be used for both radical treatment of early-stage malignant tumors and debulking therapy for advanced cancer. It has been widely applied in the treatment of solid tumors including lung, liver, breast, kidney, pancreatic, prostate, bone, and soft tissue cancers, demonstrating strong clinical efficacy and advantages. It provides a new treatment option for patients who have lost surgical opportunities, have contraindications to chemotherapy or radiotherapy, or have responded poorly to such treatments, with thousands of ultra-low-temperature cryoablation minimally invasive procedures completed to date.

Qianfu Huang, founder of Haijieya Medical, said: "This collaboration with Gaorong proceeded very smoothly. Minimally invasive tumor intervention therapy has rapidly grown into a fourth pillar of cancer treatment alongside surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. New-generation minimally invasive tumor treatment technologies represented by the Cryoablation System are leading tumor treatment toward minimal invasiveness, precision, and intelligence. With the support of Gaorong Ventures and other new and existing shareholders, we look forward to accelerating the domestic and international rollout of our product pipelines, promoting the broad application of digital medicine in tumor diagnosis and treatment, continuing to innovate in both professional medical and consumer-facing health products, and building a leading platform-based enterprise." A Gaorong Ventures project lead commented: "Minimally invasive tumor intervention therapy has developed rapidly in recent years with broad prospects. Haijieya Medical's innovative products, represented by the Cryoablation System, demonstrate highly promising clinical advantages and commercial value, achieving precise and effective treatment while bringing patients excellent post-treatment quality of life. Haijieya Medical's entrepreneurial team is young and execution-driven, having achieved major breakthroughs across multiple critical aspects of product development and delivered remarkable results. We are very optimistic about Haijieya Medical's long-term growth potential. Healthcare is one of Gaorong Ventures' key focus and investment areas. As an important partner to outstanding entrepreneurs, we will provide comprehensive support for the healthy development of the company."
