Standing at the intersection of the AI and quantum computing revolutions.

On July 15, Huayi Boao (Beijing) Quantum Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huayi Quantum"), an ion-trap quantum computing company, announced the completion of its Series A funding round. The round was jointly led by the National Social Security Fund Zhongguancun Independent Innovation Special Fund, Beijing Information Industry Development Investment Fund, and Legend Capital, raising several hundred million RMB. Gaorong Ventures had previously led Huayi Quantum's angel round in 2022.

This financing marks the capital market's strong recognition of Huayi Quantum's technical capabilities and commercial prospects. The funds will be used to accelerate the R&D iteration of core quantum computing technologies and the deployment of industrial applications.

Building World-Class Ion-Trap Quantum Computers

Founded in January 2022 and spun out of Tsinghua University's Quantum Information Center, Huayi Quantum was founded by Academician Luming Duan, director of the Quantum Information Center at Tsinghua University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Its core team comprises PhDs and postdoctoral researchers from Tsinghua, the University of Science and Technology of China, and other leading institutions. As a domestic frontrunner in quantum computing, Huayi Quantum has remained committed to developing ion-trap quantum computers and has achieved key breakthroughs in core technologies, critical products, and commercial application expansion.

In terms of core ion-trap quantum computing technology, the Huayi Quantum team was the first in the world to propose an ion-trap quantum computing architecture based on high-dimensional ion qubit arrays. This approach can substantially increase the number of effective qubits in a single system while maintaining connectivity, without sacrificing the speed or fidelity of quantum gate operations — placing its technical capabilities at the forefront globally.

Huayi Quantum is dedicated to building world-class, fully autonomous and controllable ion-trap quantum computing systems. The company's independently developed second-generation commercial ion-trap quantum computer prototype, the HYQ-B100, has achieved the critical milestone of surpassing 100 qubits, with key performance indicators including fidelity and coherence time all ranking at the top tier internationally.

Exploring Industry Applications for Quantum Computing

The company continues to explore and expand the practical applications and commercial value of quantum computing across different industries. Huayi Quantum has already partnered with multiple research institutions and leading enterprises in telecommunications, finance, pharmaceuticals, and energy to conduct exploratory quantum computing applications in scenarios including intelligent routing, portfolio optimization, chemical energy calculation, and logistics optimization.

Accelerating the Integration of Quantum Computing and AI

Following this funding round, the team will continue to deepen industry-academia-research collaboration and expand industry applications, while also strengthening the integration of quantum and classical computing to provide one-stop solutions in relevant fields. At the same time, Huayi Quantum will press ahead with technical breakthroughs, including accelerating the development of next-generation quantum computers, advancing the application of quantum computing in artificial intelligence, and pushing forward quantum error correction technology.

Lin Yao, CEO of Huayi Quantum, said, "We are grateful for the support and recognition from our new and existing shareholders. Huayi Quantum's vision is to become a world-class quantum computing company and lead the computing revolution. To this end, we have not only accumulated deep technical expertise along the ion-trap quantum computing path and built commercial quantum computer hardware with a fully domestic and autonomous supply chain, but have also gathered a group of top-tier institutions and enterprises to intensively explore industry applications for quantum computing. The progress we've made so far gives us tremendous confidence. We firmly believe that at the intersection of the AI and quantum computing revolutions, quantum computing will unleash even greater potential. The path to commercialization is promising, and quantum computing has the potential to bring revolutionary impact to computational acceleration and foundational innovation across industries."
