Huayi Quantum Secures Nearly 100 Million Yuan in Strategic Funding to Accelerate Commercialization of Ion-Trap Quantum Computing

Accelerate R&D and manufacturing of second- and third-generation trapped-ion quantum computers.

Huayi Quantum (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huayi Quantum") recently announced the completion of a strategic funding round of nearly RMB 100 million, led exclusively by Beijing China Mobile Digital New Economy Industry Fund, a fund under China Mobile. Gaorong Ventures had previously led Huayi Quantum's angel round in 2022.

This funding will accelerate the R&D and manufacturing of Huayi Quantum's second- and third-generation trapped-ion quantum computers. The second-generation product is expected to scale to 100–200 qubits, while the third-generation product is projected to reach 300–600 qubits, with both slated for release in 2024.

Self-Developed Quantum Computers with World-Class Performance Metrics

Huayi Quantum is dedicated to accelerating the commercialization of quantum computing through self-developed quantum computer hardware. Founded in January 2022 and spun out of Tsinghua University's Quantum Information Center, the company was founded by Professor Duan Luming, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the Quantum Information Center at Tsinghua University.

Huayi Quantum focuses on the trapped-ion quantum computing approach, which features high controllability, long coherence times, scalability, and high precision — making it one of the most promising technical routes for industrializing quantum computing. From a commercial application perspective, its significant scalability advantages make trapped-ion quantum computers substantially more cost-effective than alternative approaches, giving it a clear price advantage.

In Q1 2023, Huayi Quantum released its first-generation trapped-ion quantum computer commercial prototype, the HYQ-A37, featuring 37 qubits. Its performance metrics — including qubit coherence time and fidelity — have reached world-class levels. Users can currently access the HYQ-A37 by appointment, using visualization tools or code editors to rapidly design quantum circuits, and execute computing tasks via remote access with real-time graphical feedback on results.
