Striving to provide alternative treatment options for patients with metabolic diseases.

Cholesgen (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Cholesgen") recently completed an A+ round of financing exceeding RMB 100 million, led by SDIC Venture Capital, with existing shareholder AstraZeneca-CICC Medical Industry Fund continuing to increase its investment. Gaorong Ventures had led Cholesgen's Series A round in 2023.

The proceeds from this round will be used primarily to accelerate the clinical filing and development of multiple core pipeline programs, as well as to expand the R&D platform and team.

Cholesgen is rooted in cutting-edge scientific research in glucose and lipid metabolism, focusing on highly druggable innovative targets in the cholesterol metabolism pathway to develop novel therapeutics for metabolic diseases — including hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and MASH.

The company's original research projects were spun out from the laboratory of Academician Baoliang Song, who has devoted more than two decades to metabolism research and is an internationally recognized expert in glucose and lipid metabolism. Multiple academic findings from his lab have been incorporated into classic textbooks for higher education, with numerous papers published in top-tier journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell. Cholesgen's core R&D team includes multiple "Mingzhu Elite" awardees, all committed to the vision of "healthy metabolism, healthy cardiovascular system, healthy living," striving to provide treatment options for patients with metabolic diseases.

"We are grateful to SDIC Venture Capital and our existing shareholders for their recognition, trust, and strong support of Cholesgen," the company stated. "We focus on first-in-class targets based on original innovation, and have established R&D partnerships with multinational pharmaceutical companies to continuously advance our pipeline. We also thank all our employees for their hard work and our partners who have been with us along the way. Going forward, we will continue to leverage our competitive advantages, deepen our expertise in cholesterol metabolism, focus on metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, and accelerate the preclinical research and clinical development of our pipeline programs."
