Nuro Announces Series C Funding Round with New Investors, Strengthening Leadership in Autonomous Delivery

Following this round, Nuro will continue to strengthen its industry-leading autonomous driving technology, expand its team, and broaden its delivery services.

On March 25, 2021, Nuro announced that its Series C round had brought in new investors including Woven Capital and Chipotle. This investment also marked the first deal for Woven Capital, a new growth-stage fund launched by Toyota subsidiary Woven Planet. The additional capital raised by Nuro signaled that a group of world-class investors maintained their confidence in the company and its vision for autonomous delivery.

"We are thrilled to have the support of so many world-class investors as we shape the future of mobility for people everywhere," said Dave Ferguson, Nuro co-founder and president. "The backing of global financial and strategic investors will greatly accelerate the commercialization and scaling of Nuro's local delivery products."

Woven Capital, a subsidiary of Toyota, fast-casual restaurant chain Chipotle, and other new investors participated in Nuro's recently completed Series C round. The round was previously led by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., a top global investment firm, with participation from new investors including Fidelity Management & Research Company, LLC, another leading global investment firm, and Baillie Gifford, a major Tesla institutional shareholder, as well as existing investors SoftBank and Greylock.

The addition of new investors, combined with Nuro's recent receipt of a permit from the California DMV — the first and currently only permit allowing fully driverless vehicles to be tested on public roads — further strengthened Nuro's leadership position in autonomous delivery. Following this round, Nuro will continue to enhance its industry-leading autonomous driving technology, expand its team, and grow its delivery services.
