Enable faster, more effective hand-eye coordination for robots across a broader range of scalable, replicable scenarios.

XYZ Robotics, a technology company focused on robotic hand-eye coordination applications, has officially announced the completion of its Series A+ funding round, raising nearly $20 million. Gaorong Ventures, which led XYZ Robotics' Series A round in 2019, continued to invest in this round.

Founded by CMU Robotics PhD Jiaji Zhou, MIT EECS PhD Guanting Yu, and Peking University master's graduate Lianglibo Xing, XYZ Robotics is the only team in the world to have placed in the top three of the Amazon Robotics Picking Challenge for three consecutive years.

In the logistics industry, grasping unregistered items of varying shapes and colors represents the greatest challenge in automated picking. XYZ Robotics has achieved fully automated sorting across entire product categories by combining leading deep learning, 3D geometric vision, optimal motion planning algorithms, and a globally patented quick-change gripper system. Its products lead across all key performance indicators — picking efficiency, SKU coverage, human intervention rates, and more. The company reduces hardware performance requirements through advanced algorithms, delivering high-value products and solutions. Take a recently deployed picking workstation at a leading domestic logistics client: installed 13 days before peak sales season, it was operating stably on the day itself, with 99.9% accuracy and a two-year payback period.

Beyond continuously deepening its product and market advantages in logistics applications, XYZ Robotics has demonstrated rapid capability in transferring and expanding its technology to new scenarios. Building on its understanding of standard processes in production line and logistics environments, the company has used its distinctive software and hardware capabilities to introduce entirely new processes and user experiences to the industry — unlocking scenarios previously considered unworkable or prohibitively expensive, such as mixed-case palletizing with uncontrolled carton arrival sequences and high-speed production line kitting.

With three core technical capabilities — vision, path planning, and end-effector grippers — XYZ Robotics has developed standardized scenarios and simplified deployment as its central product strengths. Across its three main product lines — small-item sorting in logistics, large-item mixed palletizing and depalletizing, and industrial loading/unloading and kitting — the company has shown rapid replication potential, earning broad order recognition from end customers, system integrators, and domestic and international clients.

Regarding the Series A+ funding, XYZ Robotics CEO Jiaji Zhou said: "The company will continue to deepen its understanding of logistics scenarios and production line processes, enabling robotic hand-eye coordination to empower more scalable applications more quickly and effectively. Every step forward and every achievement at XYZ Robotics is the result of our team's collective effort. We will translate the resources and support from capital markets into an even stronger talent team, using our people and technology advantages to drive product and market leadership, while our product and market capabilities in turn strengthen our talent development."

Bin Yue, founding partner of Gaorong Ventures, commented: "From a university lab two years ago to a team today that combines technical strength with commercial capability, XYZ Robotics has quietly and diligently advanced robotic hand-eye coordination technology. Its multi-scenario logistics product lines have already scaled domestically and internationally, achieving comprehensive leadership across key performance indicators and earning recognition from leading logistics and retail enterprises. We are delighted to have accompanied XYZ Robotics on its journey from zero to one. Going forward, we believe this young and endlessly creative team will continue to expand into new application scenarios, using robotic hand-eye coordination technology to empower more industries."

According to sources, XYZ Robotics will use this funding round primarily for R&D, sales expansion, and daily operations — further strengthening its research and market development capabilities, accelerating its path to scaled commercialization, and continuously reinforcing its technology leadership.
