36Kr has learned that BIZEN Technology, a 3D real-time interactive virtual events platform, has completed successive angel and angel+ rounds totaling tens of millions of RMB, with Linear Capital, HSG, and Cathay Capital as investors. The funding will be used primarily for product iteration and market expansion.

BIZEN Technology is a full-service platform for creating, publishing, and trading 3D real-time interactive virtual spaces, offering creators out-of-the-box virtual space solutions. It helps musicians, curators, brands, and other organizers efficiently host various virtual events. Its flagship product, "BIFANG City," is a multi-user online 3D real-time interactive space built on cloud rendering, 3D engines, real-time audio and video, motion capture, and lightweight web technologies.

Last year, BIZEN Technology successfully hosted three metaverse 3D real-time virtual concerts. The first, "New Wulin," launched in May as the world's first RT3D cloud-rendered real-time virtual concert, blending Chinese wuxia and sci-fi themes. It surpassed one million views on its debut day. In September and October, the company staged two consecutive RESURGENCE WORLD performances — an exquisite, mysterious virtual world co-created with top electronic music label RESURGENCE. Both shows featured brand collaborations with BLUE DUSH and Heineken, delivering immersive real-time experiences to over a thousand attendees each and generating tens of millions of impressions on social media.

"In follow-up consumer surveys and B-side client interviews, we found that virtual concerts are no longer just pandemic-era substitutes for real-world concerts — they're an entirely new medium for realizing imagination and creativity, and a complement and upgrade to offline concerts," said Chaoyan Zhang, founder and CEO of BIZEN Technology. "In our consumer research, users expressed high satisfaction with virtual spaces' ability to help overcome social anxiety and enable things impossible in the physical world — like transforming into different forms to interact with artists — while also raising their expectations. On the B side, clients tend to run parallel online concerts alongside offline ones even now that pandemic restrictions have lifted, giving audiences more engaging content and interactive formats."

Zhang believes that after three years of pandemic-era exploration and market education, creators and brands have gradually recognized the unique advantages and value of virtual scenarios and how they can be organically integrated with offline experiences. The industry's future will inevitably move toward a convergence of virtual and physical — mutually reinforcing rather than replacing each other.

Building full-stack technical capabilities, substantially improving content production efficiency, and closing the commercial loop to boost virtual economic circulation will be the critical priorities for the next phase.

Zhang explained that BIZEN Technology aims to serve as a "translator" between industries, connecting "content" with "technology" for creators across fields. The company's virtual concerts are produced by professional lighting designers, architects, modelers, and designers who feed data into virtual spaces while maintaining their existing workflows, achieving high-fidelity experiences with efficient production. Built on cloud rendering and motion capture, the concerts allow musicians to transmit their voices, movements, expressions, and interactions into virtual spaces in real time. Users can create personalized avatars and join virtual scenes instantly via link, participating interactively across any platform or device — mobile, PC, tablet, or VR — for an immersive experience that transcends physical reality. Additionally, across all three concerts, BIZEN Technology implemented digital merchandise strategies and custom commercial solutions, providing creators with comprehensive, end-to-end support for virtual space platforms.

Zhang said that "BIFANG City," the platform BIZEN Technology is building out, will eventually provide comprehensive virtual space support for creators and brands. Beyond existing virtual concerts and music festivals, BIFANG City will expand into virtual exhibitions, product launches, and fashion shows — bringing new interactive experiences to consumer entertainment and fresh business models and growth opportunities to brands, products, and industries. At the end of last year, BIZEN Technology partnered with the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture to launch the "Virtual Biennale — Plant Growth" virtual pavilion. Visitors could embody fireflies and adopt plants, exploring a virtual botanical world corresponding to offline exhibition zones, discovering the exhibition's themes of city, nature, and community through mutual "exchange and observation" between reality and virtuality.

BIZEN Technology's business model is S2B2C with a creator ecosystem at its core: S denotes professional service providers, B denotes creators, and C denotes end consumers of music. Mass-producing high-quality virtual space experiences requires industrialization and collaboration. Professional service providers — lighting designers, architects, modelers, and others — achieve "seamless" online production by connecting data from their offline professional workflows, efficiently generating virtual lighting, spaces, characters, and data assets to form a data warehouse, earning income by providing services on BIFANG City. As the platform, BIZEN both partners with brand clients and top creators (musicians, fashion designers, artists, etc.) to input content and creativity, co-creating virtual spaces and hosting virtual events with revenue sharing on BIFANG City, while also encouraging smaller creators to enrich scenes and monetize through platform commissions; downstream, the company earns ticket or consumer revenue from C-side users.

BIZEN Technology's mission is "to create products that make labor and creation more accessible and equitable." Its founding team entered the XR space in 2016, with technical members from Tencent, NetEase, Alibaba, and other major companies, averaging over ten years of industry experience. Spatial designers come from Atelier Archmixing, a pioneering independent Chinese architecture firm that has won top domestic and international awards. Creative strategists are drawn from imaginative, creative Gen-Z talent. CEO Chaoyan Zhang noted that BIZEN is a company bridging virtual and physical reality, focused on harmonious coexistence between humans, nature, and technology. Virtual worlds demand ever-more-advanced technology, but technology must always remain human-centered, with human culture guiding its direction. The right to labor and create belongs to people — enabling anyone, anywhere, unrestricted by geography, to participate in creating society's ultimate labor value is the vision behind BIFANG City.

Following this vision, BIZEN Technology continues exploring how technology can empower creators to create better. Currently, various data assets in virtual spaces are provided by professional service providers; going forward, BIZEN will use AI to assist these professionals in generating posters, performance motions, lighting atmospheres, and sound assets. 3D terrain and environments represent the biggest cost in building virtual activities, yet pure text-to-generation places excessive demands on prompts and may not be the most efficient approach in practice. BIZEN is developing AI that works through context and intuitive visual interaction, enabling faster generation of 3D scenes including vegetation, terrain, and skies through more intuitive, comprehensible methods. The goal for BIFANG City is to integrate virtual and physical spaces, gradually growing and expanding into a virtual city — perhaps the metaverse world people eagerly envision and anticipate.
