Swiss Startup "BTRY" Raises Tens of Millions in Seed Funding to Accelerate Ultra-Thin Solid-State Battery Commercialization | Linear Portfolio
Defining next-generation energy storage with the world's thinnest form factor.

Today, Swiss battery startup "BTRY" announced the completion of an oversubscribed seed round, with Linear Capital participating as an investor.
BTRY's thin-film solid-state battery combines ultra-fast charging, high-temperature resistance, and flame-retardant safety in a single package, delivering overall performance that significantly outperforms existing lithium-ion batteries. The battery can operate safely at temperatures up to 150°C, solving the problems of failure, swelling, or fire that plague conventional batteries in such high-heat environments. At just 0.1 millimeters thick, it can fully charge within a single minute and directly power wireless transmission devices without requiring additional capacitors.
Linear Capital maintains a long-term focus on frontier tech and its innovative industrial applications, investing globally in promising startups.
On November 6, Swiss battery startup "BTRY" announced the completion of an oversubscribed seed funding round. The proceeds will accelerate the industrialization of its ultra-thin solid-state battery — a product that pioneeringly integrates rapid charging, extreme temperature stability, and intrinsic safety into what is now the world's thinnest form factor, defining a new generation of energy storage technology.
The product is designed to power next-generation devices including connected components, wireless sensors, and wearables in scenarios where traditional batteries fall short. The round was led by European deep-tech investor Redstone VC, with participation from Linear Capital, Bloomhaus Ventures, Kickfund, Kick Foundation, and CustomCells founders Leopold König and Torge Thönnessen. Existing investors High-Tech Gründerfonds and Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) increased their stakes, further demonstrating market confidence in BTRY's core technology and commercial prospects.
The funding will be used to advance industrial roll-to-roll manufacturing processes, transforming thin-film battery technology into commercially viable products. The company is currently focused on building out its production infrastructure, optimizing industrial processes, and fulfilling existing orders so that its batteries can be integrated into next-generation devices.
Dr. Moritz Futscher, CEO and co-founder of BTRY, stated: "The oversubscription of this round is a strong validation of the confidence placed in us by experienced tech investors and strategic industry backers. Working closely with this international consortium will drive our efforts to translate world-class research into products with genuine scaling potential."

BTRY's thin-film solid-state battery combines ultra-fast charging**, high-temperature resistance, and flame-retardant safety**, outperforming existing lithium-ion batteries on multiple metrics. **By introducing solid-state fabrication techniques from the semiconductor industry, BTRY has achieved a critical breakthrough in battery manufacturing — not only aligning with the global industry trend toward thinner, safer, and more durable batteries, but also providing solid support for next-generation electronics to become more reliable, more compact, and more connected.
"In next-generation solutions like smart logistics tags, for example, the industry is clearly missing a small, powerful, and safe battery — precisely what BTRY can deliver. We believe BTRY not only holds tremendous potential, but also has the capability to set a new benchmark for high-performance energy storage," said Mohamed Foulser, Investment Director at Redstone VC.

BTRY's solid-state design compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries: streamlined layered structure, no liquid electrolyte required, overall architecture thinner and safer
"BTRY represents the very best of Swiss deep tech — science-driven, bold, and demonstrating genuine ambition for global markets. They have successfully combined materials-level innovation with industrial-scale manufacturing, placing them among the leaders of Europe's next-generation battery companies," said Pascal Stürchler, CEO of Bloomhaus Ventures.

Unlike large-scale energy storage serving electric vehicles and power grids, BTRY focuses on powering next-generation solutions such as smart connected labels, high-temperature industrial sensors, and lightweight consumer electronics. For these high-value applications, power miniaturization and long service life are critical.
BTRY's manufacturing process adheres to high sustainability standards, requiring no solvents and generating minimal material waste. With international capital that brings together deep-tech capabilities and industrial expertise, BTRY is building globally impactful premium energy storage technology from its Swiss base, opening a new chapter in the battery industry.
