This week, Linear Capital's April European tour wrapped up with its final two stops: Grenoble, France, and Genoa, Italy.
Many people may not be familiar with these places. But consider this: Grenoble is known as "the Silicon Valley of Europe." It's not only a renowned French science city, home to the world's largest nanotechnology park and multiple research institutes, but also the birthplace of hydroelectric power technology — and the headquarters of companies including STMicroelectronics, Schneider Electric, and Soitec. Public data shows that more than 630 startups have been founded here since 2000. For us, this was an essential stop for visiting European technology research institutes and labs.

The Italian port city of Genoa is home to the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), one of Europe's three major robotics research institutes — meaning we've now visited all three. Here, we toured multiple IIT labs, gaining valuable insights for Linear Capital's investments in this direction, while also sensing the researchers' genuine enthusiasm and openness toward collaboration with China.

In both Grenoble and Genoa, we gathered for meals and conversations with local Chinese students. Through this kind of face-to-face exchange, we came away deeply confident that they will carry forward the "spirit of technological voyaging" — applying cutting-edge technology to serve global industrial development.

And with that, having passed through the UK, Germany, Switzerland, France, and Italy, Linear Capital's April European tour has come to a close. We'll share more of our reflections and takeaways from this trip in future updates. Our thanks to everyone who reached out and joined us in person — we welcome continued dialogue. We'd also like to extend an invitation to overseas Chinese students and scholars: Linear Capital's Overseas Internship Program (for those interested in tech investing) and Linear Fellow II (for those interested in entrepreneurship) are both open for applications.

We are hiring for multiple positions on our investment team. For details, please click here.
Linear Capital is an early-stage investment firm focused on "frontier technology + industry," targeting cutting-edge technologies such as data intelligence, digital new infrastructure, next-generation robotics, and technological transformation in traditional sectors (biotech, materials, energy, etc.) — then applying these across vertical industries to dramatically improve efficiency, solve critical pain points, and enable industrial upgrading. We capture outsized commercial returns through substantial industrial value creation. We currently manage ten funds with approximately $2 billion in total assets under management.
Our investment stage focuses primarily on leading angel to Series A rounds, with typical check sizes of $3 million to $8 million or RMB equivalent.
Our early investments include Horizon Robotics, Kujiale, Sensors Data, Tezign, Rokid, Guandata, Agile Robots, and more than 120 other startup teams. The combined valuation of Linear Capital's portfolio companies is approximately $20 billion.
In the near term, Linear Capital is working to become the premier "Data Intelligence Technology Fund." Over the long term, we aim to build the most influential "Frontier Technology Application Fund."
