After two months of recruiting, interviews, and conversations, we're thrilled to announce that the inaugural Linear Fellow cohort has been finalized and is about to begin the next phase!
After two months of recruitment, interviews, and conversations, we're thrilled to announce that the inaugural class of Linear Fellows has been confirmed and is ready to begin the next phase of the program!
In this short two-month window, we received numerous inquiries and applications for the Linear Fellow program, and felt keenly the strong interest among young scholars at overseas universities and tech industry professionals in technology investing and translating frontier technology into industry. We were also delighted to see that among the hundreds of applications, candidates came not only from North America, Europe, Australia, and other regions, but also represented backgrounds spanning AI, computer science, robotics, biomedicine, data science, physics, chemistry, materials science, aerospace, energy, and other interdisciplinary fields. The enthusiasm of applicants and our conversations with them have been deeply encouraging and inspiring — building an open exchange platform, bringing together tech professionals from diverse, cross-disciplinary backgrounds to engage with academia and industry, and helping frontier technology find commercial footing: this is precisely the founding vision of the Linear Fellow program. Thank you all for your support and participation!
Based on program requirements and candidate profiles, we selected 22 applicants with backgrounds across different scientific disciplines. They come from world-leading institutions including Harvard University, MIT, Stanford University, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Chicago, Oxford University, Cambridge University, and the Technical University of Munich, comprising 3 postdoctoral researchers, 14 PhD candidates, and 5 master's students. Their research interests span artificial intelligence, biomedicine, computational neuroscience, robotics, physics, chemistry, materials science, and aerospace, with some currently working at well-known technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, Meta, and Snowflake. Additionally, as mentioned in our recruitment announcement, founders from several Linear Capital portfolio companies will also participate in the Linear Fellow program. (Click "read more" to see which portfolio company founders are joining.)
To those who missed this year's Linear Fellow program: we welcome you to stay in touch with us. Linear Fellow will be held annually. Beyond the Fellow program, Linear Capital will continue hosting discussions and events on technology investing and the commercialization of frontier technology — we hope you'll keep following along.
