Drive Linear Capital to become a more competitive frontier-tech fund. Drive Linear Capital to become a more competitive frontier-tech fund.

We're excited to share some important news with friends of Linear Capital: Jun Yang, former co-founder and CTO of Dada, is joining Linear Capital full-time as a Partner. Yang had previously served as a senior advisor to Linear Capital, helping source startups, evaluate deals, and support portfolio company growth.

We believe Yang's full-time arrival, combined with Linear's distinctive pre-investment team DNA — where every member brings both technical expertise and industry experience — will strongly position Linear Capital as a more competitive Frontier Tech Fund.

On June 23, Linear Capital announced that Jun Yang, former co-founder and CTO of Dada, would be joining full-time as a Partner. Prior to this, Yang had spent 2023, following his departure from Dada Group (NASDAQ: DADA), working as an angel investor and advisor to multiple startups while serving as a senior advisor to Linear Capital. In that capacity, he participated in sourcing and evaluating numerous deals and helped portfolio companies grow.

Yang holds a bachelor's and master's degree in computer science from Zhejiang University and a Ph.D. in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). After completing his doctorate, he worked as an engineer, engineering manager, and director of engineering at prominent Silicon Valley tech companies including Google, Facebook (Meta), and Square (Block). In April 2015, Yang returned to China to join Dada Group as Co-Founder and CTO, leading the company to its NASDAQ listing in June 2020.

On his decision to join Linear Capital full-time, Yang said: "I'm deeply honored to be joining Linear Capital full-time. I've always been driven by curiosity about what's new — particularly in frontier technologies that are shaping the future. That curiosity has propelled me through every chapter of my career, from returning to China to start a company to traveling the world and experiencing diverse cultures. Joining Linear Capital, whose mission is to invest in frontier technology, allows me to channel that passion into the intersection of technology and business. I believe this is where the greatest opportunities will lie over the next 10 to 20 years."

Harry Wang, Founder and CEO of Linear Capital, said: "Jun and I were colleagues at Facebook, and he's also my senior at Zhejiang University. Our conversations grew more frequent after he returned to China to build his company. Over the past two years, he's also participated in numerous investments at Linear as a senior advisor. I'm convinced that his journey from top-tier engineer to exceptional founder has given him profound insight into how technology can empower industries and be effectively commercialized. His full-time joining will inject strong momentum into the fund and create tremendous value for our portfolio companies."

Looking ahead, we believe Yang's full-time joining, combined with Linear's unique pre-investment team DNA where every member possesses both technical background and industry experience, will powerfully advance Linear Capital toward becoming a more competitive Frontier Tech Fund.
