Linear Open House: First Stop at Agile Robots | Linear Capital Event
In early 2023, Linear Capital held the first event in its "Linear Open House: Inside Our Portfolio" series at the Beijing office of Agile Robots.
At the start of 2023, Linear Capital hosted the first stop of its "Linear Open House: Inside Our Portfolio" series at Agile Robots' Beijing office.

Last year, we held "Linear Open House" at Linear Capital's own office, encouraging founders to use it as a gathering point for exchange. This year, we decided to switch things up — we're taking founders inside Linear's portfolio companies, particularly those that have scaled to a certain size. Through on-site visits and discussions at these companies, we're putting even more emphasis on "veterans guiding rookies" — seasoned founders sharing their experience — and the atmosphere for discussion is that much better.
As the first stop of this new Linear Open House format, Agile Robots was founded in 2018 and became a rising unicorn in the robotics space within just four years. Leveraging its self-developed robot operating system, intelligent force-controlled robots, algorithm platform, and autonomous decision-making capabilities, the company has deployed thousands of intelligent robots across applications in 3C precision manufacturing, automotive supply chains, healthcare, agriculture, and education. Its founder and core R&D team hail from prestigious Chinese, German, and other international universities and institutions. Team members bring together expertise in underlying technology R&D, intelligent robotics software, and hardware development, offering end-to-end "one-stop" solutions from foundational research to commercial deployment. As Agile Robots' earliest investor, Linear Capital backed the company from its angel round and has supported it ever since.
During the event, Harry Wang, founder and CEO of Linear Capital, and Zhaopeng Chen, founder and CEO of Agile Robots, looked back on how Linear first connected with Agile Robots as its earliest investor. Harry also stepped in as moderator, teeing up a number of "soul-searching questions."

Of course, when tech founders get together, touring and discussing product and technical details is essential.

The highlight of Open House is still the exchange between founders. Topics of interest centered on fundraising experience, product development, management, and company culture. Zhaopeng also candidly shared Agile Robots' journey and the pitfalls they've encountered along the way.

Linear Capital is an early-stage investment firm focused on "frontier technology + industry" — frontier technologies such as data intelligence, digital new infrastructure, next-generation robotics, and new technological transformations in traditional sectors (including biotech, materials, and energy), applied across vertical industries to dramatically improve efficiency, solve pain points, and enable industrial upgrading. We capture outsized commercial returns through substantial increases in industrial value. The firm currently manages ten funds with approximately $2 billion in total AUM.
We primarily lead seed to Series A rounds, with typical check sizes of $3–8 million or RMB equivalent.
Our early investments include Horizon Robotics, Kujiale, Sensors Data, Tezign, Rokid, Guandata, Agile Robots, and more than 120 other founding teams. The combined valuation of Linear's portfolio companies is approximately $20 billion.
In the near term, Linear Capital is working to become the premier "Data Intelligence Technology Fund." Over the long term, we aim to build the most influential "Frontier Technology Application Fund."
