Who We Are

Founded in 2014, Linear Capital focuses on "frontier technology + industry" investments — specifically, frontier technologies such as data intelligence, digital new infrastructure, next-generation robotics, and new technological transformations in traditional sectors (biomedical, materials, energy, etc.), applied across vertical industries to dramatically improve industrial efficiency, solve critical pain points, and enable industrial upgrading. We capture outsized commercial returns through substantial increases in industrial value. We insist on entering at the early stage and providing continuous support throughout the full project lifecycle. Currently, Linear Capital manages ten funds with total AUM of approximately $2 billion. Our early-stage investments include Horizon Robotics, Kujiale, Sensors Data, Tezign, Agile Robots, ThinkingData, Rokid, Guandata, Tophant, and over 120 other entrepreneurial teams, with a combined portfolio valuation of approximately $20 billion.

Harry Wang

CEO & Founder

Founder and CEO of Linear Capital, focused on frontier technology projects that solve industrial upgrading challenges. Angel investor in Horizon Robotics, Sensors Data, Tezign, and Kujiale.

Before founding Linear Capital, Harry was the second Chinese engineer and first engineering manager at Facebook headquarters — an experience he chronicled in his bestseller The Facebook Effect. After leaving Facebook, Harry served as CEO advisor to Dianping, Baixing, and CSDN, and spoke at numerous Chinese tech companies and developer communities.

Harry has been repeatedly recognized by media as "Best Early-Stage Investor" and "Most Founder-Friendly Early-Stage Investor." He is an Aspen Fellow, founding chairman of the Future Forum Youth Council, and a 2018 World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. Harry graduated from Zhejiang University's Computer Science department and earned his master's in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University.

Neil Zeng

Partner

Partner at Linear Capital.

With over 15 years of experience in technology investment and corporate management. Before joining Linear Capital, Neil was a partner at Future Capital, where he led investments in notable projects including Yutai Microelectronics, Yikuai Bao, iMotion, All Sense Technology, and MegaRobo. In corporate management, Neil held senior executive positions at Goldman Sachs' London office, Bosch Group, and ChinaCache.

Songyan Huang

Partner

Partner at Linear Capital and head of deep technology investments. Has led investments in Agile Robots, All Sense Technology, Hexaflake, Weijian, and ICAN. He is also a reviewer for multiple top-tier IEEE journals.

Before joining Linear Capital, Songyan worked as a data scientist at Huawei, responsible for multiple frontier AI research and application development projects. He earned his PhD in machine learning from Zhejiang University's College of Information Science and Electronic Engineering.

Dr. Huang has received honors including 36Kr's "36 Under 36 Outstanding Investors of 2021," Cyzone's "40 Under 40 Investors of 2022," and Jazzyear's "20 Most Visionary Tech Investors of 2021."

Can Zhang

Managing Director

Managing Director at Linear Capital and head of applied technology investments. Led Linear Capital's investments in FlashMa, GritWorld, YuanYe Technology, and DataCloak.

Before joining Linear Capital, Can was among Morgan Stanley Technology's early hires in China, responsible for building post-trade platforms across multiple Asian countries and regions. He was also a member of Tata Consultancy Services' MBA Young Leaders Program, providing social media-based customer experience analytics consulting for banking and telecommunications clients in Silicon Valley.

Can graduated from Zhejiang University's Zhu Kezhen Honors College with a degree in computer science, earned his master's in computer science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and his MBA from the University of Chicago.

Ben Li

COO & CFO

Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Linear Capital.

Before joining Linear, Ben was a senior manager at Ernst & Young, focused on transaction advisory services, with expertise in due diligence, structural planning, and various tax planning strategies.

Ben graduated from Fudan University's International Finance department.

Zeren Bai

Senior Director

Focused on computation-driven next-generation applications, currently concentrating on AGI investments. Led Linear Capital's investments in Pacdora, ICAN, Hourstec, and White Rhino.

Before joining Linear Capital, Zeren worked at Tencent Cloud, conducting frontier AI technology research and application deployment. He has extensive project experience in computer vision, natural language processing, big data, and the intersection of machine learning with multiple industries. Zeren holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Tongji University and a master's degree in science from Columbia University, and was champion of the IBM Smart Business Analytics Competition.

Wei Xin

Senior Director

Senior Director at Linear Capital, focused on industry analysis in hardware-software integration and data-empowered industrial applications.

Before joining Linear Capital, Wei worked as a system lead designer at the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Innovation Academy for Microsatellites, and as a hard tech investor at a venture capital firm.

Wei earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology's School of Mechatronics Engineering and Research Institute of Robotics, and his MBA from Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance.

Tianyi Zhou

Director

Director at Linear Capital, focused on breakthroughs at the frontier and intersection of chemistry, materials, and biology — with a strong passion for emerging technologies.

Before joining Linear Capital, Tianyi worked at a Suzhou state-owned VC firm, investing in new materials and biotechnology.

Tianyi studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, graduating with first-class honors, then conducted research on gold nanoparticles in the Mirkin Group at Northwestern University. Tianyi also holds a master's degree with honors from the University of Cambridge.

Yifei Li

Director

Director at Linear Capital.

Focused on innovation in new energy and new materials.

Before joining Linear Capital, Yifei worked as a R&D specialist at NIO, responsible for developing novel battery systems and expanding new materials applications. He previously worked at a startup on the industrialization and energy storage applications of aqueous lithium/sodium-ion batteries and related materials, and at CATL's power battery cell division, where he was responsible for power battery R&D and design.

Yifei earned his bachelor's degree in materials physics from Wuhan University and his PhD in materials science and engineering from the University of Houston. He has published over ten SCI papers and holds more than twenty patents in related fields.

Grace Shichao Zou

Legal Manager

Legal Manager at Linear Capital, joined in 2021.

Before joining Linear Capital, Grace worked at a leading domestic law firm, with a practice focused primarily on private equity and investment funds, capital markets, and securities.

Grace graduated from Peking University with a dual bachelor's degree in law and economics, and passed the National Unified Legal Professional Qualification Examination.

Cherie Li

Legal Manager

Legal Manager at Linear Capital, joined in 2021.

Legal Manager at Linear Capital, responsible for fund legal affairs. Before joining Linear Capital, Cherie worked at Global Law Office, Shihui Partners, and other firms for over five years, with a practice concentrated on private equity and venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate legal matters. Cherie graduated from Nanjing University Law School.

Franny Feifan Zhong

Finance Manager

Finance Manager at Linear Capital. Before joining Linear, Franny served as Finance Manager at a subsidiary of CICC Capital, where she was responsible for day-to-day financial operations for the company and its funds. She also worked at PwC as a senior auditor, specializing in RMB and USD private fund audits.

Franny graduated from the School of Accountancy at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

Kalyn Kailin Lu

Senior Finance Specialist

Senior Finance Specialist at Linear Capital. Before joining Linear Capital, Kalyn worked at Yunfeng Capital, where she was responsible for finance, fund operations, and project valuation. She also worked at Ernst & Young Hua Ming LLP, auditing private equity funds and securities firms, among others.

Kalyn graduated from the School of Accountancy at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

Jessica Xiang Zhou

Administration Director

Before joining Linear, Jessica worked at Suning as a conference specialist, responsible for venue arrangement and coordination for internal executive meetings and shareholders' meetings, as well as venue planning and setup for external receptions across various business units.

She later served as Administration Director at Wizwork, where she was responsible for collecting client files, fee collection, communication and relationship maintenance with clients, and ensuring stable project operations.

Helen Weiwei He

VP of Operations

VP of Operations at Linear Capital, responsible for building and operating Linear's talent ecosystem, assisting portfolio companies with core talent recruitment, and serving as head of Superlinear Academy.

Before joining Linear Capital, Helen held positions at Google China, CICC, Wandoujia, and other well-known companies. She has experienced rapid expansion at startup-stage companies and also served as an HR business partner helping business teams grow sustainably at mature companies, with extensive experience in team recruitment and management.

Helen graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University.

Ronghui Li

VP of Operations

VP of Operations at Linear Capital, responsible for post-investment brand communications and assisting portfolio companies in building brand and communications strategies.

Before joining Linear Capital, Ronghui worked as a Silicon Valley correspondent for Yicai Weekly and served as content lead at a content entrepreneurship project.

Ronghui graduated from the School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China.

Joseph Qiufeng Zhang

Investor Relations

Before joining Linear Capital, Joseph worked as an investment analyst at the Duke University Endowment, investing in private equity and venture capital funds globally.

Joseph graduated summa cum laude from Duke University, where he double-majored in economics and statistics and served as president of the Duke University Chinese Students and Scholars Association.

Michael Weihao Ling

Managing Director

Joined Linear Capital in 2023, responsible for expanding overseas relationships and business, and supporting Linear's portfolio companies in international expansion.

Before joining Linear, Michael worked at Jeneration Group, a multi-family office investment platform focused on Asian growth investments and global multi-asset allocation. Prior to that, Michael was at CDH Investments, a private equity and alternative investment management firm, where he helped develop CDH's multi-asset alternative investment platform. Michael began his career in New York, working in investment banking and private equity at Bear Stearns, JPMorgan Chase, and Guggenheim Partners. Michael earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University Bloomington.

Among our long-term investment partners are Asia's top asset management companies and professional investment institutions, leading sovereign wealth funds, first-tier Asian fund-of-funds, and the world's premier university endowments. We also work with leading listed companies from various industries at home and abroad — important representatives of the traditional economy — as well as founders of well-known domestic and international internet companies, alongside market-oriented fund-of-funds and other Chinese and international family offices. We strive to use our professional expertise and industry resources to help portfolio companies move fast and break fewer things, ultimately achieving linear paths and non-linear growth.

We are based in Shanghai and Beijing, with frequent but irregular presence in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions.

Where We're Going

Investment Stage?

Our initial investments focus primarily on angel, pre-Series A, and Series A rounds, with pre-Series A accounting for over 60%. But we are prepared to follow on throughout the entire lifecycle of every dollar we invest. We make selective long-term heavy bets.

Check Size?

Initial investments range from $1 million to $10 million USD or equivalent RMB. Our sweet spot is leading rounds of $3 million to $8 million USD (or equivalent RMB).

What Post-Investment Support Do We Provide?

• Key Moment Advising: We join critical discussions during core product iterations, market expansion, or commercialization. For example, we helped architect the platform framework for Dianping, and advised Tongdun and Sensors Data on monetization strategies.
• Key Position Hiring: We help recruit director-level and above roles. For instance, we helped Horizon Robotics hire its CTO, interviewed CTO candidates for Tezign, and helped Dianping recruit an engineering director.
• Key Round Financing: We help design and shepherd companies through their next one to two funding rounds. We've supported Guandata, Tongdun, Sensors Data, and Tezign in closing follow-on rounds. We maintain close ties with partners at 30+ of China's top funds and are deeply involved in connecting and advancing these later-stage deals.
• Key Client Conversion: We connect portfolio companies with the right customer resources and build upstream/downstream partnerships. For example, we introduced nearly a dozen senior financial executives to Taoshu, and helped Sensors Data convert Lufax and Guokr as clients.
• Key Moment Branding: We leverage Linear Capital's external channels to promote portfolio companies on funding announcements, product launches, success stories, awards, and industry thought leadership.
