Who We Are
Founded in 2014, Linear Capital focuses on investments at the intersection of frontier technology and industry — specifically, applying advances in data intelligence, digital infrastructure, next-generation robotics, and technological transformation in traditional sectors (such as biomedicine, materials, and energy) to vertical industries. By dramatically improving industrial efficiency, solving critical pain points, and enabling industrial upgrading, we capture outsized commercial returns through substantial value creation in the underlying industries. We invest at the earliest stages and provide continuous support throughout the full lifecycle of our portfolio companies. To date, Linear Capital manages ten funds with total AUM of approximately $2 billion, and has made early-stage investments in over 120 entrepreneurial teams including Horizon Robotics, Coohom, Sensors Data, Tezign, Agile Robots, ThinkingData, Rokid, Guandata, and Tophant, with a combined portfolio valuation of roughly $20 billion.
Harry Wang
Founder & CEO
Founder and CEO of Linear Capital, Harry focuses on frontier technology projects that address industrial upgrading challenges. He was an angel investor in Horizon Robotics, Sensors Data, Tezign, and Coohom.
Before founding Linear Capital, Harry was the second Chinese engineer and first Chinese engineering manager at Facebook headquarters — experiences he chronicled in his bestselling book The Making of Facebook. After leaving Facebook, he served as CEO advisor to Dianping, Baixing, and CSDN, and spoke at numerous Chinese tech companies and developer communities.
Harry has been repeatedly recognized by media outlets as a "Best Early-Stage Investor" and "Most Founder-Friendly Early-Stage Investor." He is an Aspen Fellow, served as the inaugural chair of the Future Forum Youth Council, and was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2018. Harry holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Zhejiang University and an M.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University.
Neil Zeng
Partner
Partner at Linear Capital.
Neil brings over 15 years of experience in technology investment and corporate management. Prior to joining Linear Capital, he was a partner at Future Capital, where he led investments in notable projects including Yutai Microelectronics, YiKuaiBao, iMotion, All Sense Technology, and MegaRobo. On the corporate side, he held senior management roles at Goldman Sachs' London office, Bosch Group, and ChinaCache.
Songyan Huang
Partner
Partner at Linear Capital and head of deep tech investments. He has led investments in Agile Robots, All Sense Technology, Hexaflake, Weijian, and ICAN. He also serves as a reviewer for multiple top-tier IEEE journals.
Before joining Linear Capital, Songyan worked as a data scientist at Huawei, where he led several frontier AI research and application development projects. He earned his Ph.D. in machine learning from the College of Information Science and Electronic Engineering at Zhejiang University.
Songyan has received recognition including 36Kr's "36 Under 36 Outstanding Investors" (2021), Cyzone's "40 Under 40 Investors" (2022), and Jazzyear's "20 Most Visionary Tech Investors" (2021).
Can Zhang
Managing Director
Managing Director at Linear Capital and head of applied technology investments. He led Linear Capital's investments in FlashMa, GritWorld, YuanYe Technology, and DataCloak.
Before joining Linear Capital, Can was among the earliest hires in Morgan Stanley's technology division in China, where he built post-trade platforms across multiple Asian markets. He was also selected for Tata Consultancy Services' MBA Young Leaders Program, providing social media-based customer experience analytics consulting for banking and telecom clients in Silicon Valley.
Can graduated from the Chu Kochen Honors College at Zhejiang University with a B.S. in Computer Science, earned an M.S. from the Department of Computer Science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Ben Li
CFO/COO
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Linear Capital.
Before joining Linear, Ben was a senior manager at Ernst & Young, specializing in transaction advisory services with deep expertise in due diligence, structural planning, and tax strategy.
Ben holds a B.S. in International Finance from Fudan University.
Zeren Bai
Senior Director
Zeren focuses on the next generation of computation-driven applications, currently centered on AGI investments. He led Linear Capital's investments in Pacdora, ICAN, Hourstec, and White Rhino.
Before joining Linear Capital, Zeren worked at Tencent Cloud, where he focused on frontier AI research and application deployment. He has extensive project experience in computer vision, natural language processing, big data, and the application of machine learning across multiple industries. Zeren holds a B.Eng. from Tongji University and an M.S. from Columbia University, and was a champion of the IBM Smart Business Analytics Competition.
Wei Xin
Director
Director at Linear Capital, focusing on industry analysis at the intersection of hardware and software, as well as data-enabled industrial applications.
Before joining Linear Capital, Wei worked as a lead system designer at the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Innovation Academy for Microsatellites, and later did hard tech investing at a venture capital firm.
Wei holds a B.Eng. and M.Eng. from the School of Mechatronics Engineering and the Research Institute of Robotics at Harbin Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Tianyi Zhou
Director
Director at Linear Capital, focusing on breakthroughs at the frontier and intersection of chemistry, materials, and biology. He maintains a strong passion for emerging technologies.
Before joining Linear Capital, Tianyi worked at a Suzhou state-backed VC firm, investing in new materials and biotechnology.
Tianyi completed his undergraduate studies in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, graduating with first-class honors. He then conducted nanogold-related academic research in the Mirkin Group at Northwestern University. Tianyi also holds an M.A. (Cantab.) from the University of Cambridge.
Yifei Li
Director
Director at Linear Capital.
Yifei focuses on innovative projects in new energy and new materials.
Before joining Linear Capital, Yifei was a research specialist at NIO, where he led development of novel battery systems and new material applications. He previously worked at a startup commercializing aqueous lithium/sodium-ion batteries and related materials for energy storage, and at CATL's power cell division, where he worked on R&D and design of power batteries.
Yifei holds a B.S. in Materials Physics from Wuhan University and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Houston. He has published over ten SCI papers and holds more than twenty patents in related fields.
Zoey Sun
Director
Director, Linear Capital
Zoey focuses primarily on investments in AI infrastructure and applications. Before joining Linear Capital, she worked at Google in both the Silicon Valley headquarters and the Shanghai office as a software engineer and product manager. She contributed to projects including TensorFlow Metrics, smart home (Google Home) dialogue generation and understanding, and machine translation.
Zoey holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Smith College and dual master's degrees — an MBA from Peking University's Guanghua School of Management and a Master's in Hospitality Management from Cornell University.
Zou Shichao (Grace)
Legal Manager
Legal Manager at Linear Capital, joined in 2021.
Before Linear Capital, Grace worked at a leading domestic law firm, focusing primarily on private equity and investment funds, as well as capital markets and securities.
Grace graduated from Peking University with a dual bachelor's degree in Law and Economics, and passed the National Legal Professional Qualification Examination.
Qian Li (Cherie)

Legal Manager at Linear Capital, joined in 2021.
Cherie handles fund legal affairs at Linear Capital. Before joining, she spent over five years at Global Law Office and Shihui Partners, focusing on private equity and venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate legal matters. Cherie graduated from Nanjing University Law School.
Zhong Feifan (Franny)
Finance Manager
Finance Manager at Linear Capital. Before joining Linear, Franny worked as a finance manager at a CICC Capital subsidiary, handling day-to-day financial operations for the company and its funds. She also worked as a senior auditor at PwC, specializing in RMB and USD private fund audits.
Franny graduated from the School of Accounting at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
Lu Kailin (Kalyn)
Senior Finance Specialist
Senior Finance Specialist at Linear Capital. Before joining, Kalyn worked at Yunfeng Capital, where she was responsible for finance, fund operations, and project valuation. She also worked at Ernst & Young Hua Ming, auditing private equity funds and securities firms.
Kalyn graduated from the School of Accounting at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
Zhou Xiang (Jessica)
Administration Manager
Before joining Linear, Jessica worked at Suning as a conference specialist, managing internal executive meetings and shareholder conferences, as well as coordinating reception venues for various business units. She later served as administration manager at Wizwork, handling client file collection, fee collection, client communication and relationship maintenance to ensure stable project operations.
He Weiwei (Helen)
VP of Operations
VP of Operations at Linear Capital. Helen oversees Linear's talent ecosystem and operations, assists portfolio companies with core hiring, and heads up Superlinear Academy.
Before Linear Capital, Helen held roles at Google China, CICC, and Wandoujia. She has experienced rapid expansion at a startup and helped business teams sustain growth as an HRBP at mature companies, bringing extensive experience in team recruiting and management.
Helen graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University.
Li Ronghui
VP of Operations
VP of Operations at Linear Capital. Ronghui oversees post-investment brand communications and helps portfolio companies build their brands and communications strategies.
Before joining Linear Capital, Ronghui was a Silicon Valley correspondent for Yicai Weekly and later served as content lead at a content startup.
Ronghui graduated from the School of Journalism at Renmin University of China.
Zhang Qiufeng (Joseph)
Investor Relations
Before joining Linear Capital, Joseph worked as an investment analyst at the Duke University Endowment, investing in private equity and venture capital funds globally.
Joseph graduated summa cum laude from Duke University, where he double-majored in Economics and Statistics and served as president of the Duke University Chinese Students and Scholars Association.
Ling Weihao (Michael)
Managing Director
Joined Linear Capital in 2023. Michael is responsible for expanding overseas relationships and business, and supporting portfolio companies' international expansion.
Before Linear, Michael worked at Jeneration Group, a multi-family office investment platform focused on Asian growth investments and global multi-asset allocation. Prior to that, he was at CDH Investments, where he helped develop the firm's multi-asset alternatives platform. Michael began his career in New York, working in investment banking at Bear Stearns and JPMorgan Chase, and in private equity at Guggenheim Partners. Michael holds a B.S. from Indiana University Bloomington.

Among our long-term investment partners are Asia's top asset management companies and specialized investment institutions, leading sovereign wealth funds, first-tier Asian fund-of-funds, and the world's premier university endowments. We also work with leading listed companies across various industries — important representatives of the traditional economy — as well as founders from well-known domestic and international internet companies, plus the most market-oriented government fund-of-funds and other Chinese and international family offices. We strive to use our expertise and industry resources to help portfolio companies move fast and break fewer things, ultimately achieving a linear path and non-linear growth.
Where We Are Now
We are based in Shanghai and Beijing, with frequent, irregular appearances throughout the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions.

Investment Stage?
Our initial investments focus primarily on angel, Pre-A, and Series A rounds, with Pre-A accounting for over 60%. But we're prepared to follow every dollar across the full lifecycle of a project. We make selective long-term heavy bets.

Initial investments range from $1 million to $10 million (or RMB equivalent). Our sweet spot is leading rounds of $3–8 million (or RMB equivalent).

- Key Moment Advising: We join critical discussions around core product iteration, market expansion, and commercialization — e.g., architecting Dianping's platform framework, advising Tongdun and Sensors Data on monetization strategy.
- Key Position Hiring: We help recruit director-level and above talent — e.g., placing a CTO at Horizon Robotics, interviewing CTO candidates for Tezign, and sourcing an engineering director for Dianping.
- Key Round Financing: We design and shepherd companies through their next 1–2 funding rounds — e.g., helping Guandata, Tongdun, Sensors Data, and Tezign close subsequent rounds. We maintain close relationships with partners at 30+ top China funds and take a hands-on role in connecting and advancing follow-on conversations.
- Key Client Conversion: We connect portfolio companies with relevant customer resources and build upstream/downstream partnerships — e.g., introducing Taoshu to nearly a dozen senior financial institution executives, and helping Sensors Data convert Lufax and Guokr as clients.
