Source Code Capital | 48-Hour Hackathon: Witnessing the Birth of a New Generation of AI Innovation
Under the wave of generative AI, the ModelScope Create@AI Hackathon kicked off on July 4. Hosted by ModelScope, China's largest AI model community, with guidance from the CCF Open Source Development Committee and co-initiated by Alibaba Cloud and NVIDIA, the event was fully supported by Source Code Capital and co-organized by Alibaba Cloud's Tianchi platform. Fifty-six teams, selected from over 300 entrants, gathered in Shanghai.

Amid the generative AI wave, the ModelScope Create@AI Hackathon kicked off on July 4. Hosted by ModelScope — China's largest AI model community — with guidance from the CCF Open Source Development Committee and co-initiated by Alibaba Cloud and NVIDIA, the event received full support from Source Code Capital and was co-organized by Alibaba Cloud's Tianchi platform. Fifty-six teams, selected from over 300 entrants, gathered in Shanghai.
At the Demo Day on July 6, Bolin Ding, head of the DAMO Academy's Intelligent Computing Lab, delivered the opening keynote. He argued that AI's impact will prove even more profound and far-reaching than the internet revolution — not a fluke, but the result of scientists and engineers grinding away day after day, year after year. "Don't place any limits on yourself, and don't place any limits on technology," Ding stressed.
The competition featured two tracks — Innovative Applications and Model Development — with finalists taking the stage to present product demos after a 48-hour intensive coding sprint.
An expert panel of technical specialists, industry veterans, and AI-focused investors evaluated the entries. Yiwen Hao, Managing Director at Source Code Capital, and Yi Luo, Investment VP, participated extensively, scoring teams across product, technology, market potential, innovation, and team strength. Multiple outstanding teams ultimately took home awards.

Over the three-day event, we saw a serial entrepreneur who'd pivoted from selling wigs to riding the AI wave; a team of musicians applying large models to instrument practice; AI practitioners who'd been searching for direction and finally landed on an innovative application helping elderly patients follow medical prescriptions; and complete beginners who, using ModelScope tutorials, shipped a demo within two days — proving once again that in the large model era, building AI applications can be remarkably accessible.
Source Code Capital extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the standout teams! For more details: 48-Hour Hackathon: Witnessing a New Generation of AI Innovation | ModelScope Create@AI Hackathon
