Taichi Graphics Raises $50 Million in Series A Funding Led by Source Code Capital

Dedicated to empowering every ordinary person to create their own digital world.

On February 7, 2022, Taichi Graphics, an open-source graphics infrastructure and digital content creation cloud platform, announced the completion of a $50 million Series A funding round. The round was co-led by Source Code Capital, GGV Capital, and BAI Capital, with existing investor HSG doubling down following its seed-stage angel investment.

"Graphics computing has already become central to the digitalization wave," said Dr. Ethan Yuanming Hu, co-founder and CEO of Taichi Graphics. "With 'unleashing creativity' as our mission, Taichi Graphics is building a next-generation parallel programming language and a 3D digital content creation cloud platform. Through open-source models and cloud-native technology, we're working from the ground up to make cutting-edge graphics computing accessible to everyone."

In just ten months since its founding, the Taichi Graphics team has significantly optimized the Taichi programming language and expanded its open-source community influence, while also building cloud infrastructure for 3D digital content creation based on the Taichi language and cloud-native technology. Moving forward, the company will strengthen the Taichi programming language's impact in parallel computing and rapidly iterate on creator-facing tools through its cloud platform. It will continue hiring across R&D, product, commercialization, strategy, and design to accelerate commercialization, enabling every creative developer, designer, and artist to create value for the world through Taichi Graphics products.

Taichi Graphics first gained recognition through its independently developed Taichi programming language. Taichi is a parallel programming language designed for high-performance computing. Embedded directly in Python, it's easy to learn and write, significantly boosting developer productivity. At the same time, Taichi automatically generates CPU/GPU code compatible across platforms, achieving both high performance and portability. Born in academia, Taichi has been adopted and co-developed by researchers from hundreds of universities worldwide, delivering value to fields including computer graphics and artificial intelligence. Since the second half of 2020, Taichi has also actively expanded into industrial partnerships, with various fluid effects developed using Taichi already deployed across multiple short-video apps.

Building on the high-performance Taichi programming language, Taichi Graphics has further developed the world's first cloud-native 3D digital content creation platform — Taitopia. If the Taichi programming language liberates developers' creativity and productivity, then Taitopia aims to enable ordinary people to create their own digital worlds through convenient, efficient tools. From text and audio to images, articles, and video, how people perceive and express themselves continues to evolve with technology. With Taitopia, anyone can create sincere and moving work anytime, anywhere — and easily share their digital content or collaborate with others directly in the browser.

In the long term, Taichi Graphics will deepen its focus on open-source infrastructure and digital content creation cloud platforms, from underlying infrastructure to upper-layer applications, continuously advancing efficient R&D and rapid product iteration, steadily progressing toward its goal of "unleashing creativity."

Xingchen Zhang of Source Code Capital commented: "With growing demand for graphics computing, cloud-native technology improving collaboration efficiency, and technology further liberating creativity, we expect profound and significant changes in graphics infrastructure, open-source ecosystems, upper-layer toolchains, and application software — with substantial commercial possibilities emerging, including content ecosystem and productivity tool reconstruction. Taichi Graphics has a technically solid, young, and bold star founding team, with clear goals for democratizing digital content creation and a well-defined development roadmap. We look forward to this funding round helping Taichi Graphics continuously break through and create lasting, real value."
