On January 17, 2022, DeepWise announced the completion of its Series B funding round, raising tens of millions of dollars. The round was co-led by Source Code Capital and Qiming Venture Partners, with follow-on investments from existing shareholders Hillhouse and Matrix Partners China. Miracle Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor. The proceeds will be used to continue attracting top industry talent, further developing its micro-scale industrial design platform, and advancing the deployment of its technology in drug and materials design applications. With this round, DeepWise has completed four consecutive funding rounds within 18 months.
Founded in 2018, DeepWise began scaling its operations in 2019. The company is dedicated to building a next-generation micro-scale industrial design platform using "AI + molecular simulation" technology, aimed at accelerating research in the foundational fields of life sciences, energy, and materials science and engineering.
"AI + Science represents a new R&D paradigm that has become a major focus in the field," said Weijie Sun, founder and CEO of DeepWise. "As practitioners, we must continue to define and solve critical industry problems, push the boundaries of technological productivity, and leverage every advanced computational tool available to improve simulation efficiency. Our goal is to transform micro-scale industrial R&D from large-scale trial-and-error experimentation to a 'computational design, experimental validation' paradigm, providing the infrastructure needed to advance human civilization."

The wave of deep integration between artificial intelligence and scientific research is gathering momentum, and DeepWise stands at the forefront of the AI + Science paradigm. The company's pioneering approach — combining multi-scale modeling, machine learning, and high-performance computing — has achieved a breakthrough in unifying accuracy and efficiency in multi-scale molecular simulation. For this work, core members of the DeepWise team received the 2020 ACM Gordon Bell Prize, the highest honor in high-performance computing. The research was also named one of China's Top Ten Science and Technology Advances of 2020 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as one of the Top Ten Global AI Technology Advances of 2020. This methodology is not only transforming how science is conducted but also dramatically shortening the distance between theoretical research and practical problem-solving.
DeepWise has extended its AI + molecular simulation capabilities to efficient quantum-mechanics-accurate calculations for systems of billions of atoms. Building on this technical foundation, the company has developed a suite of platforms addressing diverse simulation needs — from underlying mathematical models to computer science-based simulation tools to specific applications in chemistry, biology, and materials science. These include the Lebesgue scientific computing platform, the Hermite drug design platform, and the Bohrium micro-scale computing and design platform, together forming DeepWise's micro-scale industrial design platform matrix.

Through these cost-effective new productivity tools, DeepWise aims to unleash the productive capacity of scientific research and industrial design, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. The company's strong capabilities in both research and commercialization are increasingly evident. DeepWise has established partnerships with leading customers in pharmaceuticals, materials, and new energy, building a complete ecosystem from foundational innovation to industrial application through its micro-scale industrial design platform.
In the new energy sector, DeepWise has partnered with CATL to establish a joint laboratory, using more efficient computation-driven materials R&D to jointly expand the frontier of new energy technology. In pharmaceuticals, DeepWise is working with multiple customers to integrate its physics-based modeling + AI computational paradigm more broadly into preclinical drug development. Through modules including Hermite Uni-FEP, Uni-Fold, and RiD, the company combines free energy perturbation theory, molecular dynamics, enhanced sampling algorithms, and high-performance computing to accurately predict protein structures and conformational changes, and to efficiently evaluate protein-ligand binding free energies with chemical accuracy. This provides drug researchers with efficient, precise theoretical guidance, improving drug design and optimization efficiency.
"DeepWise is precisely building the computational platform that this new R&D paradigm requires, better enabling R&D in pharmaceuticals, materials, and other industries," said Yungang Huang, Partner at Source Code Capital, regarding the firm's lead investment. "In biotech and healthcare — one of our key focus areas — scientific computing is already driving industry advancement. Source Code's investment philosophy and practice of 'technology + biotech' has always been about injecting cross-disciplinary perspectives into healthcare and life sciences. We have high expectations that the company will bring significant improvements to industry R&D efficiency."
