Source Code Capital Teams Up with Top Universities and AI Leaders for Gen-AI Future Discussion

This is the 8th installment in Source Code Capital's AI series!

In early April, OpenAI officially released a music video produced by Sora, giving the outside world a more visceral sense of Sora's formidable momentum. This came after the massive global sensation triggered by Sora's launch in February, sparking another wave of discussion and keeping the global AI surge that began in 2023 as hot as ever. It's no exaggeration to say that in the first quarter just past, the global AI field commanded absolute attention — and the world is increasingly eager to see what surprises the rest of 2024 might bring...

AI has always been a key investment focus for Source Code Capital. We've backed numerous representative startups in this direction and have kept a constant eye on new developments, trends, and opportunities in global AI... Since 2023, we've organized seven themed exchange salons covering topics like AIGC, large model technology and ecosystems, and industry application落地, inviting industry guests with different perspectives to share and exchange — including former Microsoft Asia Engineering Institute president Hongjiang Zhang, ModelBest CEO Dahai Li, and others.

But here's what's different this time: we plan to collaborate with student unions, alumni associations, and other organizations at renowned AI universities (such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beihang University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc.) to invite master's and PhD students about to graduate, as well as those who graduated recently, for a university exchange event.

Of course, we've also invited CEOs from multiple AI companies inside and outside MaHui, heads of well-known research institutions, Source Code investors, and others — for example, from academia: Yue Cao, former co-founder of Lightyears Away and formerly of BAAI and Microsoft Research Asia; Xinlong Wang, head of the Visual Model Research Center at BAAI. From Source Code Capital portfolio companies: Melvin, CEO of LiblibAI and former head of core business at ByteDance; Chengren Lin, founder/CEO of iGen and serial entrepreneur. From star companies: Red Xiao, founder/CEO of Monica.im and serial entrepreneur; a mystery guest from a major tech company. And from Source Code: Lulin Li, VP and AI investor — to talk about visual generation, and the global opportunities and challenges facing China's Gen-AI companies...

Our intention in building this space is for people in this field, in different roles, to meet face-to-face and collide ideas. We believe that those of you at top universities can bring fresh perspectives and viewpoints, whether mature or still rough around the edges... This will be a closed-door but open exchange, where you can:

1. Deep-dive on hot industry topics: Discuss alongside industry experts, frontline entrepreneurs, and investors the application prospects of Gen-AI technology in Chinese enterprises, and the industry transformations and challenges it may bring. This will be an excellent opportunity to understand the latest AI trends and get a pulse on the industry.

2. Find career opportunities and explore career paths: Get up close with Source Code portfolio CEOs, tech experts from major companies, and academic leaders to find job opportunities and expand your industry network... We can also provide one-on-one career counseling to help you explore the most suitable career path with the shortest "straight-line distance."

3. Get entrepreneurial guidance and insights: If you have an entrepreneurial seed in your heart, you can also bring your ideas or even a demo to talk directly with Source Code investors and CEOs who are currently building companies, and hear suggestions and feedback from investors and entrepreneurial veterans.

So regardless of which university you're at, and whether you're about to graduate, doing research, already working, or harboring entrepreneurial dreams... as long as you have ideas, you're welcome to apply. We will screen all applicants, and those selected will be contacted individually by a Source Code team member with event details.
