Ethan Yuanming Hu won a competition in his second year of high school that secured him early admission to Tsinghua University. He later went to MIT for graduate studies, completing his master's thesis in just one year before continuing for his PhD in computer science. In 2019, while pursuing his doctorate at MIT, he led the development of an open-source computer graphics library called "Taichi." Immediately after completing his PhD, he returned to China to start a company — Taichi Graphics. What most people knew him for was Taichi, the programming language that recreated Frozen in 99 lines of code. To this day, this prodigy remains on an extraordinary trajectory, having navigated what he counts as six sharp turns in his journey. "Many decisions that look, in retrospect, like riding through a storm, felt in the moment like nothing more than calm seas." But those turns he once thought were sudden detours turned out to be launch ramps, propelling him toward higher goals — and he always lands steadily.

Source Code Capital was drawn to this technically rigorous, young, and daring star founder from the earliest days.
