Event Recruitment | How to Navigate Compliance and Tariff Risks in Europe and America?

"Going Global Night Chat" Episode 3 is here!

In May and June, Code Brain organized two "Going Global Night Chats" in Shenzhen and Beijing respectively — one for consumer electronics companies expanding overseas, another for AI/SaaS companies. We invited six operators with hands-on overseas experience across different sectors, attracting over 80 entrepreneurs from inside and outside the MaHui community. The energy was high, exceeding all expectations. So we're keeping the series going — giving more going-global founders a space to swap challenges, learn from each other, and explore partnerships face-to-face. On Friday, September 6, we'll host the third "Going Global Night Chat" in Shanghai, focused on patent/compliance risk mitigation and tax planning for Europe and North America.

As we all know, Europe and North America rank among the top destinations for Chinese companies going global. This is especially true for smart manufacturing sectors like robotics, energy tech, and new energy vehicles, as well as consumer electronics — driven by these regions' weight in the global economy, their brand-building power, and their advanced productivity alongside mature consumer markets.

But as representatives of developed economies, both regions operate under extremely stringent legal frameworks. Requirements around intellectual property, data compliance, and more are rigorous; Chinese companies can easily stumble if they're not careful. Meanwhile, global dynamics are reshaping tariff policies at speed. Targeted tax measures for specific industries have piled heavy cost burdens on companies in those sectors. That's why we've invited four partners and patent attorneys from leading European law firm Simmons & Simmons, plus Shen Jing from Han Kun's tax practice — a top domestic law firm with 15 years of cross-border tax advisory experience — to share their expertise on these topics. Two partners from Simmons & Simmons will join us in person in Shanghai. Dou Shuang, Managing Director at Source Code Capital and former head of integrated marketing for TikTok Shop, will moderate the session.

This remains a relaxed, open-format gathering. Portfolio companies from Source Code Capital's relevant going-global sectors will also attend. So whether you're already building overseas, planning to expand, or serving as the #1 person for your company's international markets — if you're following these issues or currently wrestling with them — you're welcome to apply. To keep the conversation quality high, we're capping attendance at 20. We'll screen all applicants; those selected will be contacted individually by a Source Code Capital team member with event details.
