Founders' Reading List: Anything Catch Your Eye? | World Book Day

Love to read, and read good books.

April 23 marks the 25th World Book Day.

This year's World Book Day feels especially significant. Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, information crashes over us like a tsunami, and everyone bears the emotional toll of information overload. Only books can help people find peace of mind — in the space between lines, across the span of history, from science to philosophy.

In truth, entrepreneurs inhabit a daily environment where information gallops like horses on a racetrack. The relentless pressure has long pushed them to cultivate reading habits — using books and written words to dampen the external noise, maintain focus, and discover prescriptions for growing their companies.

Since 2016, Source Code Capital's post-investment team has consistently sent books to every Ma Hui entrepreneur, covering philosophy, science, business, history, political economy, psychology, and more. In 2019 alone, we gifted books to 544 people and mailed out 1,632 physical copies. We remain committed to drawing nourishment and elevating our thinking alongside entrepreneurs through serious, deep reading.

Along the way, we have explored Algorithms to Live By, untangled The Model Thinker, observed The Corporate Life Cycle and The Rise and Fall of American Growth as a Bystander, and Reinventing Organizations alongside In Transition: The Practice of Local Government in China. In the days ahead, we hope to Rethink Entrepreneurship with our founders, move to the precise rhythm of Strategy Rhythm, hold fast to Principles, make Rational Choice in an Uncertain World, and Win this Finite and Infinite Game!

When it comes to selecting good books for entrepreneurs, Source Code Capital's post-investment team follows its consistent "systematic, productized" approach, making active efforts across every stage of "demand, supply, and distribution" — and has accumulated some small methods to share through the flowchart below.

Source Code Capital looks forward to exploring the ocean of books with you, expanding the boundaries of our understanding, and together creating lasting, real value.
