Digital therapeutics company IBT无疆科技 announced the completion of its Pre-A+ funding round, with existing investor Source Code Capital continuing to increase its stake.

Advancing the Commercialization of Next-Generation Digital Therapeutics

IBT, a high-tech company focused on brain science research and digital therapeutics for central nervous system disorders, recently closed its Pre-A+ round — its third funding round in less than a year since founding, bringing total capital raised to over RMB 100 million. Legend Star and MSA Capital co-led the round, with existing investors Linear Capital and Source Code Capital also participating. Source Code Capital led the company's Pre-A round.

Proceeds will primarily fund clinical trials and regulatory registration, pipeline development, and commercialization of its digital therapeutics.

"In the next phase, IBT will continue to deepen our product pipeline development, advance clinical trials and regulatory registration, drive commercialization of digital therapeutics, and continue recruiting top talent," said Wei Sun, founder and chairman of IBT. "With evidence-based medicine as our foundation and digital technology as our soul, we aim to transform scientific discoveries in brain science into warm, accessible technologies that bring effective mental health services within reach."

Founded in January 2021 (full name: Beijing Wujiang Brain Intelligence Technology), IBT is dedicated to screening and treating neurological disorders through digital therapeutics. In less than a year, the company has rapidly built a team of nearly 100 people and advanced multiple neurological disease treatment pipelines, covering conditions including childhood ADHD, autism, post-stroke cognitive impairment, and cognitive impairment in schizophrenia.

The 2021 Brain Science Research Report shows that the global population of depression patients has reached 350 million, with nearly 10% of children affected by ADHD. According to WHO statistics, brain-related diseases — encompassing various psychiatric and neurological conditions — impose the highest societal healthcare burden of any disease category, exceeding both cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Traditional treatments carry significant side effects and poor patient compliance, while also being constrained by physician quantity and quality, with temporal and spatial gaps delaying treatment. Under the conventional model, prolonged treatment processes create considerable financial and psychological pressure on patients and their families.

Next-generation digital therapeutics are evidence-based, high-quality software-driven treatment modalities. This human-centered, non-pharmacological approach plays a particularly prominent and unique role in treating psychiatric and neurological disorders. In recent years, an increasing body of clinical evidence has demonstrated the efficacy of digital therapeutics for brain-related diseases. Moreover, digital therapeutics enable the migration of treatment settings and the transformation of intervention subjects, improving accessibility — patients can participate in treatment at home using just a tablet. For children and adolescents, digital therapeutics significantly improve compliance through designs that are simultaneously serious and gamified (serious games).

In media interviews, founder and chairman Wei Sun noted that the core team comprises seasoned veterans with years of experience in healthcare, and that this "top-tier" configuration has been a key reason for the company's strong appeal to investors. In September, AffaMed, a medical technology company developing innovative treatments for ophthalmology, neurology, and psychiatric conditions, deepened its strategic partnership with IBT through a follow-on investment. "We are honored to partner with IBT to explore digital technology as a disease treatment modality," said Dayao Zhao, CEO of AffaMed. "IBT brings unique innovative technologies and products, while AffaMed provides strong clinical development and global regulatory capabilities. We believe that through our joint efforts, digital medicine will further demonstrate its remarkable therapeutic potential, offering physicians and patients more treatment options."

Yungang Huang of Source Code Capital commented: "Digital therapeutics create substantial value in emotional and cognitive disorders, delivering clinical efficacy while enabling expansion from B2B to B2C, bringing effective treatments to large populations of potential patients. We've already seen multiple digital therapeutics overseas achieve significant clinical results and gain regulatory approval. IBT has notable advantages in underlying brain science and multi-pipeline expansion, and is committed to using data and technology to address the supply shortage of clinical physicians and in-hospital services. Its engaging, gamified experience can significantly improve patient compliance. The company has strong potential in the China market and prospects for international expansion."
