MaHui Member Edianyun Takes the Stage at UN Climate Conference, Showcasing China's Circular Economy Strength

COP28 — the 28th UN Climate Change Conference — is now in full swing. Government officials, business leaders, media, and representatives from international organizations across nearly 200 participating countries have gathered in Dubai to discuss more than 300 environmental and climate topics. As the largest international climate conference in history, COP28 has drawn over 80,000 attendees. MaHui member Edianyun was one of 300 organizations invited to speak at a China Pavilion side event, where it delivered a keynote on "Remanufactured Devices Powering China's Carbon Reduction Practices," showcasing China's circular economy to the world.

The event was attended by Xie Zhenhua, China's Special Envoy for Climate Change; Wang Hao, Deputy Director of the Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Promotion Division at the National Development and Reform Commission's Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection; Karen Lim, Managing Director and Head of the Centre for Nature and Climate at the World Economic Forum; Wang Yi, Member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Vice Chairman of the National Expert Committee on Climate Change; and Zhu Liyang, President of the China Association of Circular Economy, among other leaders, who engaged in in-depth discussions.

SMEs Feel the IT Pain Most

In his global address, Ji noted that China's 48.8 million small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the foundational units supporting high-quality development, face distinct IT challenges: device idle time caused by staff turnover, insufficient in-house IT capabilities, short warranty periods with no reliable suppliers, and excessively high repair costs. Through proprietary software and hardware, Edianyun extends computer lifespan from three years to ten, allowing one device to serve different roles across different time periods — delivering the utility of three machines.

"Through our self-developed remanufacturing technology," Ji explained, "a device can support R&D and design roles requiring high computing power in its first three years. From years four to six, the remanufactured computer meets the needs of finance and operations staff with moderate computing requirements. After year seven, it can serve sales, customer service, and front-desk positions — perfectly distributing a ten-year lifespan across different roles." On the customer-facing side, Edianyun offers SMEs a monthly subscription model with pay-after-use flexibility and return-anytime convenience, plus 24/7 remote IT support and two-hour on-site service. The company has served more than 50,000 SMEs with 1.15 million devices under management. The subscription model's inherent environmental benefits, combined with one-stop IT services, mean the more Edianyun's devices are used, the more they circulate, and the greener they become.

Ji candidly shared: "To address the scattered needs and common challenges of SMEs, we've built what's behind the customer-facing layer — proprietary software, hardware, and even production lines for IT devices, creating one of the world's largest PC remanufacturing facilities."

Edianyun's 132 patents, monographs, and inventions enable not only chip-level IT device repair but also standardization of previously non-standard remanufacturing processes, achieving annual remanufacturing output of 739,743 computers, with remanufactured 'like-new' devices matching brand-new performance in testing scenarios. By addressing SME pain points with its "IT devices + hassle-free service" combination and its fully self-developed smart remanufacturing factory, Edianyun maintains a core customer retention rate consistently above 85%, earning broad trust from SMEs. As device recycling rates improve, technology-enabled deep integration of commercial and environmental goals has reached annual carbon reduction of 50,000 tons.
