China Fund News — On May 8, DeepWise and Geely Auto announced the establishment of a joint "New Energy + AI" laboratory, marking the first time that "AI + molecular simulation" techniques from the biopharmaceutical field have been applied to power battery R&D. This signals the global power battery industry's formal entry into a new era of "atomic-scale precision research."

The laboratory will focus on three core areas: cloud-based battery digital twins, AI surrogate models, and intelligent R&D for new battery materials. Leveraging Geely Auto's self-developed large model matrix and DeepWise's "AI for Science" technology platform, the two partners aim to pioneer a "targeted-drug-level" paradigm for power battery development.

Specifically, the collaboration will build three integrated innovation systems: a cloud-based battery digital twin system, an AI surrogate model, and an intelligent new materials R&D platform. This "virtual lab + physical manufacturing" dual-helix innovation model is expected to significantly boost R&D efficiency while enhancing power battery stability and safety.

Separately, Geely Auto on May 8 received test certification for GB 38031-2025, "Safety Requirements for Traction Battery of Electric Vehicles," becoming one of the first domestic automakers to pass China's new national battery safety standard. The certification was issued by CATARC Automotive Test Center, an authoritative third-party testing institution.
