November 28, 2017, Beijing — Jiemian and Toutiao jointly released the inaugural "China Top Venture Capital Firms" list, with 50 top-tier firms including Source Code Capital making the cut. China's innovation and entrepreneurship scene has gradually entered a more sophisticated phase, with new models constantly emerging and hot sectors shifting rapidly. Jiemian's survey aims to identify the top venture capital firms that are best at seizing opportunities amid China's ever-changing economic landscape, demonstrating the deepest judgment and leadership in innovative industries, and providing the most meaningful support and impact for entrepreneurs.

To reflect the most current state of play, the ranking places particular emphasis on firms' performance over the past three years, including new investments and exits during that period, in order to surface the freshest, most active, and most newly ascendant forces in the venture capital world.

According to PwC statistics, venture capital investment activity grew increasingly robust between 2012 and 2016. In 2012, there were 473 VC deals totaling $900 million. By 2016, deal volume had reached 3,492 — more than seven times the 2012 figure — with total transaction value hitting $5.9 billion. The fingerprints of venture capital can be found across China's largest and most compelling innovative companies and sectors, including Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, Ant Group, JD.com, Xiaomi, DiDi, Toutiao, DJI, and many others. Venture capital has become the discoverer, driver, and beneficiary of opportunity.

While China's venture capital industry has not been around for very long, its growth has been explosive. At a time when global venture capital has been slowing, activity in China has only become more vigorous — further proof of the market's prospects and dynamism.
