In April, HyperVision closed an angel+ round exceeding RMB 10 million. Source Code Capital, which invested in its angel round in 2022, has supported and stood by the company ever since.

On June 23, UploadVR — one of the world's most influential virtual and mixed reality media platforms — published a front-page feature titled "FunFitLand Is A Compelling Workout On Quest With Mixed Reality & Hand Tracking," offering an in-depth review of an overseas VR fitness app called FunFitLand. Developed by Chinese VR startup Beyond Reality Vision, this VR/MR fitness application has, since launching in beta on the Meta Quest platform in September 2024, achieved over $1 million in annualized subscription revenue in just over one quarter, becoming one of the fastest-growing and highest-rated immersive fitness applications globally.

UploadVR is among the most influential technology media outlets in the global XR space. Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, it boasts over 2 million monthly active users and maintains close partnerships with core platforms including Meta, Sony, and Unity. Its annual content showcase serves as a bellwether for new product launches in the industry.

"As a startup, landing on UploadVR's front page isn't just media exposure — it's about being truly seen. What's especially moving is that this article was written and endorsed organically by a user, representing genuine affirmation and resonance with FunFitLand's product design and experience innovation. It's a huge boost for the 1,000-plus days we've spent refining every product detail," said Meng Zhang, founder and CEO of Beyond Reality Vision.

Earlier in April, Beyond Reality Vision quietly completed an angel+ round of over 10 million RMB. Source Code Capital had invested in its angel round back in 2022 and has supported and accompanied the company ever since.

Founded in 2022, Beyond Reality Vision is led by CEO Meng Zhang, who graduated from Tsinghua University's Basic Science program and later earned a PhD in nanomaterials from the University of Toronto. A cross-disciplinary entrepreneur who has long moved between science, technology, and experience design, Zhang previously co-founded a venture exploring intercontinental near-Earth orbit travel solutions and served as a core leader in taking multiple products from zero to one, including Kuaishou Lite and Meituan Maicai. During his consulting career at BCG, he also led multiple strategy projects related to consumer healthcare. At the same time, as a veteran gamer with over 30 years of experience, he possesses a natural sensitivity to interaction mechanics, rhythmic feedback, and emotional immersion.

Beyond Reality Vision's team members come from leading industries including internet, gaming, healthcare, music, and film and television, with full-stack capabilities spanning interaction design to algorithm architecture, and from course development to immersive experience integration.

In short, FunFitLand is a VR/MR-based fitness and lifestyle application that combines musical rhythm with visual guidance to provide immersive dance and combat workout experiences, getting users moving naturally and sticking with exercise joyfully.

DanceFit is one of its most signature features. Through musical rhythm guidance paired with dynamic dance moves — such as body waves when dodging obstacles, or naturally raising arms while reaching for targets — users experience the pleasure of dancing. CombatFit is another highlight, a training modality that combines boxing with creative movements. Users can execute rich combinations including dodges and elbow strikes during courses, experiencing workout styles akin to battle ropes, or practical footwork from real boxing. They can even don cool combat gloves to feel authentic impact feedback.

Additionally, FunFitLand boasts some unexpected yet highly praised features for overseas users. For instance, it genuinely integrates fitness equipment and is currently the only VR fitness application on the market that supports MR and hand tracking while connecting to physical dumbbells and strength training equipment. The MR mode allows players to exercise against full-color real-world backgrounds, making it especially suitable for environments with limited space or obstacles. "It makes working out at home feel exponentially safer, and creates a sense of connection with the environment, family, and friends," the author noted in the report.

What UploadVR praised most highly was the application's hand tracking capability: "In other apps, hand tracking often feels unnatural or exaggerated, but in FunFitLand it's smooth, authentic, and expressive. Every movement is something you express yourself, not something you mechanically complete."

The UploadVR report also directly compared FunFitLand with Supernatural, a benchmark application in the VR fitness space that Meta acquired in 2021.

Regarding music, the author noted that Supernatural's music library benefits from high-profile licensed tracks available only in the United States and Canada, while FunFitLand uses original or non-commercially licensed music — the first to secure licenses from mostly independent artists — enabling it to reach a broader global audience. "The tracks in FunFitLand are rhythmic, carefully curated, and tightly synchronized with each workout. It may lack the star power of Supernatural's playlists, but in terms of energy and atmosphere, it absolutely holds its own."

In terms of exercise performance, there are also key distinctions between FunFitLand and Supernatural. FunFitLand offers DanceFit rather than Supernatural's Flow mode, pursuing expressive movements rather than structured repetition. FunFitLand's CombatFit also doesn't use abstract triangles and spheres, but rather colorful targets and clearly designed mechanics that combine boxing movements with game-like visual effects, "placing you in a thoroughly enjoyable environment and guiding you through full-body movement."

On the environment side, FunFitLand consistently pursues immersive fantastical settings, with nearly 100 diverse exercise scenes spanning everything from natural landscapes to futuristic fantasies, ensuring that every login brings fresh surprises. On the experience side, the immersive teaching system uses realistic interactive forms that make users feel as if they're in one-on-one personal training sessions. The instructor's vocal cadence matches movement beats, providing not just technical guidance but continuous positive feedback, truly achieving the goal of "getting people moving and keeping them going."

User feedback renders these achievements even more tangible: the UploadVR author lost 35 pounds after using FunFitLand, calling it "a tool for long-term commitment and steady companionship." Rehabilitation therapist Jacqueline Drake used DanceFit in psychological recovery training, finding that it "satisfies the triple therapeutic effects of body, mind, and spirit," helping patients emerge from anxiety and depression.

FunFitLand's product philosophy doesn't focus solely on fitness results, but rather on lowering the barrier to accessing happiness and wholeness. As Zhang put it: "We want to build a practice space where technology, space, physical state, and emotion are all 'unlimited.' It's not about becoming a better version of some idealized person, but about bringing you closer to yourself."

UploadVR summarized FunFitLand's core design philosophy in its report: it opens a reassuring and confident door for beginners while preserving freedom for creativity and emotional expression for experienced users. It doesn't pursue the percussive stimulation of "rhythm gamification," but rather returns to "the meaning of movement itself," accompanying users to truly get moving — moving with feeling, moving with a sense of control. This isn't just mechanically repeating to the beat, but a journey of reconnecting with oneself through the body.

In the second half of 2025, FunFitLand will continue expanding exercise types, integrating smart devices (such as watches and fitness trackers), developing multiplayer collaborative gameplay, and advancing cross-platform adaptation. Meanwhile, FunFitLand is also collaborating with top global universities and research institutions to advance clinical research on exercise mechanisms and their systematic value.
