The 25th Annual Yabuli Forum recently concluded in 2025. At the "Artificial Intelligence Forum," Chunyu Song, Partner at Lenovo Capital and Incubator Group; Lan Xue, Dean of the Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University and Dean of the Institute for AI International Governance; Yu Wang, Co-founder and Chairman of Infinigence AI and Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University; Xiaoru Wu, President of iFlytek; Lei Peng, Founder & CEO of NeuroXess; and Jinjian Zhang, Founding Partner of Oasis Capital, discussed the industrial applications and societal impact of artificial intelligence. Qiang Ye, Executive Dean of the School of Technology and Business at the University of Science and Technology of China, moderated the session.
AI is reshaping the world at an unprecedented pace. From the agent revolution to the rise of robotics, from healthcare transformation to the disruption of scientific research paradigms, the potential of this technological wave far exceeds that of the Industrial Revolution. Six top industry leaders and scholars unveiled the core logic of the AI era from the perspectives of investment, technology, and industry. In their view, a new civilization of symbiosis between silicon-based and carbon-based life is gestating — and we happen to be witnesses to history. Technological Revolution: The "Cambrian Explosion" of Silicon-Based Intelligence
Jinjian Zhang: "AI represents a bigger opportunity than the Industrial Revolution — something humanity might encounter only once every 300 years."
Chunyu Song: "One of the two major transformations brought by AI is the emergence of agents (in the digital world) and robots (in the physical world). Looking at future trends in how AI integrates with industries, data processing work will most likely be replaced by AI agents. Within the next five years, every industry will rapidly enter a completely new era of explosive growth in silicon-based intelligent species, with specialized silicon-based intelligent agents and expert systems emerging across sectors. We are also firmly convinced that this wave of generative AI merging with the physical world will usher in the era of robotics. Additionally, AI for Science as a new paradigm is replacing traditional scientific research methods, greatly accelerating the development of natural sciences."
Yu Wang: "Generality is crucial — it enables empowerment across all industries. Large models have broken down barriers between robots, physical space, digital space, and humans. As robots serve as bridges between the physical and digital worlds, the boundaries among these three will become increasingly blurred."
Industrial Disruption: A Billion-Dollar Company With Just 50 People?
Jinjian Zhang: "In the future, a company generating a billion dollars in revenue might only need 50 people. The practical significance of AI for businesses lies in 'merging like terms' — one job function, through a human-plus-AI approach, replaces humans. A position that once required 1,000 people shrinks to 500, then to 100. The extreme extrapolation of this process is that each industry will eventually be left with just one 'person who understands it best, plus AI,' serving the entire industry."
Xiaoru Wu: "In the future, everyone may have their own super personal medical assistant, equivalent to having a private medical team. Intelligence and personalization will become key drivers for the development of numerous industries."
Chunyu Song: "Large models will gradually replace traditional enterprise software, abandoning fixed workflows and shifting to 'end-to-end' direct outcomes."
Lei Peng: "AI-native application transformation is about to emerge, reshaping the relationship between AI applications and people. The multimodal integration of AI with hardware is undoubtedly a significant opportunity that will open up a much broader market."
Education Reconstructed: 70% of Specialized Knowledge May Prove Useless in Practice
Xiaoru Wu: "Future university students may find, after completing seven years of study, that 70% of their specialized knowledge has little practical application. Yet the teaching models and disciplinary structures of many universities have not changed much — this is indeed something that demands special attention in Chinese higher education."
Lei Peng: "AI has already achieved human parity in crystallized intelligence. In future organizational forms, 'merging like terms' should refer to consolidating tasks that rely on crystallized intelligence and having AI execute them. The remaining unique individuals — those who need to innovate, make decisions under chaotic conditions, perform boundary condition analysis, work across disciplines, or bridge the digital and physical worlds — should maximize their fluid intelligence capabilities."
Jinjian Zhang: "The 'educational trajectory' of AI: from general education starting in 2018 to specialized education driven by deep learning in 2024. AI evolves far faster than humans. Large numbers of AI systems are being introduced into human society as professionals, reconstructing collaboration models in scientific research and industry."
Yu Wang: "Due to the popularization of large models, knowledge has become readily accessible. We need to rethink how primary and higher education connect."
Societal Challenges: Unemployment, Ethics, and Civilizational Survival
Lan Xue: "Social innovation is no less important than technological innovation — social systems, distribution systems, and others all require corresponding adjustments. If AI exceeds human control, it will pose a threat to human survival. During his 2023 visit to China, Henry Kissinger stated that the future survival of humanity will depend on whether China and the US can once again cooperate on AI safety. This issue deserves deep reflection from all experts involved in AI development and application."
Chunyu Song: "Several key issues in the current discussion of silicon-based intelligence challenges: the unexplainability of neural networks; the still-high costs of generative large models; the societal problem of AI replacing human intelligence; Chinese large model companies' rush to commercialization, which risks neglecting exploration of AGI's upper limits; and the question of who controls sovereign AI... These issues are attracting attention not only in academia and industry but also at the national level, where active consideration is being given to the challenges and risks posed by AI."
The Ultimate Question: Will Humanity Be the Mentor of Silicon Civilization, or Merely Its Stepping Stone?
Chunyu Song: "Humanity's exploration in the field of artificial general intelligence (AGI) remains in its early stages. If we use a marathon as a metaphor, we may have only run 2 to 3 kilometers."
Lei Peng: "Looking ahead fifteen years, I firmly believe that the integration of carbon-based life with silicon-based technology will become an inevitable trend, and the dominance of this integration will depend on the respective development speeds of these two technologies."
Xiaoru Wu: "In the future, some super enterprises or super individuals may create enormous wealth. Therefore, academia needs to conduct in-depth research, and governments need to take measures to address this imbalance."
Jinjian Zhang: "The Industrial Revolution upgraded humanity from manual laborers to knowledge workers. AI will help humanity make a new upgrade: from knowledge workers to 'heart-powered' workers."
Final Words
There are no bystanders in this transformation. Either actively harness AI to reconstruct civilization, or be swallowed by the wave — we are writing the prologue to Humanity 2.0. AI is not a trend; it is a tsunami. It may elevate humanity to new heights of civilization, or it may trigger the most severe ethical crisis in history. When silicon-based intelligence evolves on a monthly basis, the time left for human adaptation may be shorter than imagined. The only certainty is that openness and returning to fundamentals are the paths to growth.
