In school, we're taught to distinguish right from wrong, to produce standard answers. Problems have boundaries, derivations have paths, and expression must be rigorous, compliant, reproducible. We're trained to become "people who can get it right."

But real-world technological exploration has never worked this way.

In a lab where an experiment won't run, parameters defy explanation, and the goal remains unclear, what matters isn't "writing it right" — it's "daring to write," describing an invisible order that doesn't yet exist, right there in the chaos.

We're increasingly convinced: What truly drives technological change isn't whoever arrives first with the correct answer. It's those who try to send the first signal from the boundary zones.

So this time, our theme is: "No Boundaries."

Because we've seen that so-called "boundary exploration" isn't some idealistic romantic fantasy — it's already happening, in real time.

Slack was born from a failed gaming project. Stewart Butterfield had set out to build Glitch, a multiplayer online game, only to abandon it midway. To help his team communicate better, they threw together an internal tool on the fly. Unexpectedly, this tool proved more valuable than the game itself. A few years later, it became a collaboration platform that changed how the world works.

In the early 2000s, Spanish scientist Francisco Mojica noticed unusual patterns in certain repetitive bacterial DNA sequences. He had no idea where this would lead — he simply recorded them out of curiosity. These ideas are still unstable, incomplete — but they're all trying to describe a new possibility. And that very act of trying is itself a push against boundaries.
