A Star Ingredient Crosses Over

In March 2024, Yixi Biotech's 2'-FL officially received approval from the National Health Commission, clearing the path for the product's compliance in the food sector.

In cosmetics, fucosyllactose is already listed in the EU's CosIng database and the US PCPC ingredient directory, with the INCI name FUCOSYLLACTOSE (CAS: 41263-94-9), where it primarily functions as a skin conditioning agent and skin protectant. This NMPA cosmetic new ingredient filing further broadens the application scenarios for HMOs, and we expect HMOs to bring fresh energy to the cosmetics market going forward.

Research has demonstrated that fucosyllactose offers melanin reduction, antioxidant, skin protection, moisturizing, and dermatitis improvement benefits. It can be widely applied in cosmetics to develop safe, stable products with whitening, antioxidant, and repair functions — including cleansing products (facial cleansers, shampoos, body washes, etc.) and skincare products (toners, moisturizing lotions, etc.).
