# elsewhere

> elsewhere (别处发生 / elsewhere.news) is an independent media platform covering China's tech and venture ecosystem. Its corpus combines elsewhere's own first-hand editorial reporting — exclusive interviews and in-depth profiles of founders, investors, and companies — with long-form articles and podcasts from partner institutions (VCs and funds) publishing on the platform. All content runs through the same pipeline: cleanup, entity extraction, and zh↔en translation. Available in Chinese (original) and English (translated).

It exposes exactly 18 read-only data tools, including the connected account's own Elsewhere context, plus the separate zero-unit `check_account_binding` background-task safety preflight; each independently authorized connection is separately revocable at [/me/connections](https://elsewhere.news/en/me/connections).
- Connected background tasks call `{ "mode": "initialize" }` once at creation, then pin both the server-generated `task_nonce` and opaque `account_binding` (as `expected_binding`). Every run uses `mode: "verify"` and requires `status: "matched"` before its first Elsewhere data tool. `account_binding_mismatch`, reauthentication, or missing credentials stops the run without anonymous fallback; mismatch supplies no replacement binding, and a run never initializes or replaces the expected binding. This account-level check still matches after reauthentication to the same Elsewhere account. It is a best-effort Skill guard, not a host-enforced boundary or a restriction on cron uses.
