AXera Technology Raises Over RMB 1 Billion in Series C Strategic Financing

Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company and leading enterprise in AI perception and edge computing chips AXera Technology announced it has successfully completed its Series C financing round, raising over RMB 1 billion — one of the largest funding events in China's chip sector in 2024. The proceeds will primarily fund R&D for next-generation advanced AI chips, accelerate mass production of smart products, and intensify marketing efforts, aiming to provide customers with more efficient and intelligent solutions. Qiming Venture Partners led AXera Technology's Pre-A round and continued to invest in its Series A and A++ rounds.

Recently, Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company and global leading autonomous driving technology company WeRide (NASDAQ: WRD) and QNX, a subsidiary of BlackBerry Limited ("BlackBerry"), announced a collaboration to accelerate the development and deployment of Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) solutions for global automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

Under this partnership, WeRide will deeply integrate BlackBerry QNX's advanced technology stack into its WePilot ADAS solution for L2++ passenger vehicles. The solution achieved mass production by the end of 2023, advanced jointly by WeRide and global top-tier Tier 1 supplier Bosch Group, and was first deployed on Chery Automobile's Exeed Sterra ES and ET models, delivering an exceptional all-scenario driving and parking integrated assisted driving experience to end consumers.

As Leapmotor's exclusive LiDAR supplier, Hesai Technology will provide advanced perception technology support, marking a new phase in the two companies' strategic collaboration in intelligent driving.

("JenKem Technology") signed a co-development agreement to jointly advance clinical research on mRNA vaccines for treating glioblastoma (GBM), with first patient dosing expected within this year.

01/ Zai Lab Announces Multiple Efgartigimod Data Presentations at American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting

Recently, Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company Zai Lab (NASDAQ:ZLAB, 09688.HK) announced that multiple data presentations for efgartigimod were featured at the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting.

Long-term data from the ADAPT NXT (Phase B) and ADAPT-SC+ studies further demonstrated efgartigimod's sustained efficacy, favorable long-term tolerability, and ability to help patients achieve minimal symptom expression (MSE), providing strong support for efgartigimod's important position in the treatment of generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).

Zai Lab previously entered into an exclusive licensing collaboration with argenx to develop and commercialize efgartigimod in Greater China (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan).

02/ Abbisko Pharma and Ali's Collaborative Next-Generation EGFR Inhibitor ABK3376 Completes First Patient Dosing

Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company Abbisko Pharma (02256.HK) announced that ABK3376, a next-generation EGFR oral small-molecule inhibitor independently discovered by Abbisko and co-developed with Ali, recently completed first patient dosing.

In September 2024, ABK3376 received approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) to initiate first-in-human Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer with EGFR-C797S resistance mutations.

ABK3376 is a highly selective, brain-penetrant next-generation EGFR oral small-molecule inhibitor that effectively targets the C797S mutation acquired after third-generation EGFR TKI resistance. Preclinical research has demonstrated four key advantages: First, ABK3376 shows robust and balanced activity against C797S mutations co-occurring with various other mutations. Second, it exhibits favorable selectivity against wild-type EGFR, potentially offering improved clinical safety. Third, ABK3376 has minimal off-target liabilities. Fourth, it efficiently penetrates the blood-brain barrier to achieve effective drug exposure in the central nervous system, making it suitable for treating or preventing CNS metastases in non-small cell lung cancer.

03/ Shize Biotech's XS411 Injection Receives Full Approval from Both Chinese and U.S. Regulators for Registration Clinical Trials

Recently, Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company Shize Biotech announced that its new drug registration clinical trial application for XS411 injection, an allogeneic universal "off-the-shelf" iPSC-derived dopaminergic neural progenitor cell injection, has received formal complete approval without any deficiencies from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, the world's second most common neurodegenerative disorder.

Previously, the FDA had also granted formal complete approval without any deficiencies for Shize Biotech's Investigational New Drug (IND) application for its universal iPSC-derived dopaminergic neural progenitor cell injection, enabling registration clinical Phase 1 trials for Parkinson's disease treatment. Additionally, the FDA concurrently granted Shize Biotech a formal exemption for its Parkinson's disease new drug, supporting the company's registration clinical trials for universal cell therapy in Parkinson's disease.

04/ DINGTAI Group Supports Dinglexin in Securing Clinical Trial Approval for World's First Enzymatic Process siRNA Drug DNV001

Recently, DNV001 injection, a Class 1 new drug independently developed by Dinglexin — a partner of Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company DINGTAI Group — received clinical trial implied approval from the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) under the National Medical Products Administration (application number CXHL2500095). The drug is indicated for the treatment of dyslipidemia, including adult patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous familial and non-familial) or mixed dyslipidemia characterized by elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C).

Dingtai Pharmaceutical Research Group leveraged its leading technical expertise, extensive project experience, and premium resources to provide integrated non-clinical research services supporting the IND application for DNV001 injection. The group completed the non-clinical pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and safety evaluation studies for the DNV001 project in a compliant, high-quality, and efficient manner, and also delivered excellent work on the preparation of registration documentation, accelerating the drug development process for this product.

Belief BioMed, a Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company, announced that Xinjiuning® (BBM-H901 injection, generic name: pipdakib gene therapy injection) has received formal approval from China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for the treatment of adult patients with moderate-to-severe hemophilia B (congenital factor IX deficiency). Xinjiuning® is China's first approved hemophilia B gene therapy drug and also the country's first approved recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) gene therapy drug.

04/ Zai Lab Partner Announces Vyvgart

Prefilled Subcutaneous Injection Approved in the United States

Zai Lab (NASDAQ: ZLAB, 09688.HK), a Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company, announced that its partner argenx has received formal FDA approval for the prefilled subcutaneous injection formulation of Vyvgart for the treatment of adult patients with acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibody-positive generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) and adult patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).

The approval of the Vyvgart prefilled subcutaneous injection was based on study data demonstrating bioequivalence with the vial formulation of Vyvgart subcutaneous injection. Additionally, human factors validation studies showed that gMG or CIDP patients and their caregivers were able to safely and successfully complete preparation and administration using the prefilled subcutaneous injection. Previously, based on the global Phase 3 clinical studies ADAPT, ADAPT-SC, and ADHERE, the FDA had approved Vyvgart subcutaneous injection for the treatment of gMG and CIDP.

with Full 60 Series Digestive Endoscopes Deployed in Clinical Practice

Recently, Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company Ark Biopharmaceutical (688176.SH) announced its accreditation as a resident unit of the Shanghai Pudong New Area Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, obtaining qualification to conduct postdoctoral innovation projects. This approval further recognizes Ark Biopharmaceutical's high-caliber research team and scientific capabilities, and will become an important component of the company's innovation R&D and talent development.

09/ Frontage Laboratories Supports Partner's Allopurinol Sustained-Release Capsules in Passing Generic Drug Consistency Evaluation

Recently, "Aomaibili" (allopurinol sustained-release capsules), submitted by Heilongjiang Aolida Pharmaceutical Group — a partner of Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company Frontage Laboratories — officially passed the generic drug therapeutic efficacy and quality consistency evaluation by China's National Medical Products Administration, becoming the first domestic company to pass this evaluation for this drug type. Frontage Laboratories has previously supported the group in obtaining approvals for multiple consistency evaluation projects.

Frontage Laboratories' CMC R&D team was primarily responsible for reference drug filing, pharmaceutical research, and preparation of application materials. Drawing on pre-BE data analysis, the team conducted dedicated research to optimize formulation and process parameters, identifying and controlling critical manufacturing parameters for scale-up production, ultimately achieving a self-developed product with quality and therapeutic efficacy consistent with the reference drug.

10/ SceneRay Medical Receives QTL Accredited Laboratory Certificate from International Authority

Recently, Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company SceneRay Medical received the QTL Accredited Laboratory Certificate from international certification body SGS. This qualification authorization further deepens the collaboration between both parties in the brain-computer interface DBS technology field, with SGS helping accelerate SceneRay Medical's global market access, enhance its international competitiveness, and contribute to the brain disease treatment sector.

The QTL Accredited Laboratory Certificate is a witnessed testing qualification launched by SGS. When conducting SGS-recognized testing programs, SGS participates in the product testing process at accredited laboratories, providing witnessed supervision of testing data accuracy and result reliability.

11/ RheinBio Passes ISO 13485:2016 Medical Device Quality Management System International Certification

Recently, Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company RheinBio officially passed the ISO 13485:2016 medical device quality management system international certification and obtained the quality management system certificate accredited by IAS (International Accreditation Service).

This certification comprehensively covers the full-chain quality management system for the R&D, production, and sales of the company's core product — radiotherapy protective hydrogels — marking RheinBio's formal establishment of international quality management benchmarks in the medical device field.
