ColorfulClouds (彩云科技) is a Beijing AI company founded and led by CEO Yuan Xingyuan (袁行远), running three consumer AI-native products: Caiyun Weather (彩云天气, launched 2014 with minute-level rainfall forecasting), Caiyun Translate (彩云小译, launched 2017, an early global translation app), and Dreamily (彩云小梦), an AI story-continuation tool described as "4 million parallel worlds" where users co-write stories with AI . By late 2024, all three products had crossed the ten-million-user tier, per a 5Y Capital Tavern episode with Yuan . On the cap-table side, Yuan chose 5Y Capital at Series A over another strategic investor ("Fisher said 5Y could support you doing what you like") , and Unity Ventures has also listed ColorfulClouds among its AIGC portfolio companies . In recent 5Y conversations (2023-2024), Yuan has been framed as an AI-native product builder, discussing in-house model development and finding PMF "before AI changes the world" .
