Future Science Prize

The Future Science Prize is China's first privately initiated science award, established in 2016 by scientists and entrepreneurs to honor researchers whose original work has produced major impact . Nicknamed "China's Nobel Prize" by *Nature*, it has recognized 46 scientists over its first decade, with laureates selected across fields including material science, mathematics and computer science, and life science . The 2025 awards, marking the prize's tenth anniversary, were presented in Hong Kong to scientists including Ji Qiang, Xu Xing, Zhou Zhonghe, Fang Zhong, Dai Xi, Ding Hong, and Lu Zhiyuan . The prize is sustained by a donor coalition that includes venture figures such as ZhenFund co-founder Wang Qiang, who described its philosophy as "facing the future, observing the present, rewarding the past" , and 5Y Capital founding partner Qin Liu, who served as rotating chair of the donor assembly in 2023 . Yunqi Capital founding partner Michael Mao attended the 2026 Future Science Forum in Shanghai this July as a council member .
