Future Science Prize

The Future Science Prize is China's first privately initiated science award, established in 2015 and sometimes called "China's Nobel Prize" by *Nature* magazine . It honors researchers whose original work has produced major impact, with prizes across life sciences, physical sciences, and mathematics/computer science . The 2025 ceremony marked its tenth year, with 46 scientists honored to date .

The prize is funded by entrepreneur donors rather than government. ZhenFund co-founder Wang Qiang, a donor since its founding, described its purpose as "facing the future, observing the present, rewarding the past" . 5Y Capital founding partner Qin Liu served as rotating chair of the donor assembly in 2023 . The award explicitly aims to make scientists role models for young people and to advance Chinese science with international scope .
