IceWhale Technology (冰鲸科技) is a consumer-grade AI hardware company that builds private cloud NAS products for content creators and professional users, as described in a 2024 FreeS Fund report . The company was founded by Lauren, a product manager with experience defining well-known products in the space, and has developed an open-source operating system called CasaOS and its successor ZimaOS, which has surpassed 500,000 installations .

FreeS Fund led IceWhale's Pre-A+ round of tens of millions of RMB, announced in mid-2024 , and had previously invested in the company's earlier rounds . The firm's thesis is that NAS devices represent an ideal AI terminal: they combine large storage, collaborative tools, fast transmission, localized AI deployment, and gateway functions for smart homes . IceWhale has also established developer ecosystem and edge computing partnerships with Intel and other leading AI chip vendors , and its ZimaCube product integrates localized AI Agent capabilities with hardware designed specifically for creators' transmission and collaboration needs .
