Kingsoft is a 38-year-old Chinese software company now positioning itself as an "AI office efficiency partner" rather than a model builder . Under CEO Zhang Qingyuan, it has pursued an "All In AI" strategy since 2023, releasing WPS AI 2.0 in 2024 and the native Office agent "WPS Lingxi" in 2025 . The company explicitly avoids developing its own large models, instead acting as a "connector" that orchestrates multiple domestic models to link user context, document data, and business scenarios with AI capabilities . By mid-2026 it had switched all internal AI development to domestic models and launched two agent products at WAIC 2026 . Kingsoft has also been active as an investor, joining the $1.5 billion fundraising for AI startup MiniMax in early 2026 alongside Alibaba, Tencent, and others . Historically, computer scientist Hongjiang Zhang served as Kingsoft's group executive director and CEO from late 2011 until his retirement in December 2016 .
