Michael Mao (毛丞宇) is a founding managing partner of Yunqi Capital, the Beijing-based VC firm he co-founded in January 2014 with Huang Yubin . Before Yunqi, he was a partner at IDG Capital, where in early 2013 he led the Series A investment in Manycore Tech (the cloud design software maker now nearing a Hong Kong IPO) and worked closely with its founding team through subsequent crises . At Yunqi he has continued to back early-stage tech companies including Noematrix, the embodied-AI startup , while maintaining a ranked presence on domestic investor lists—most recently named to PEDaily's TOP100 and 36Kr's most founder-friendly investors rankings in mid-2026 .
