Nationalchip (杭州国芯科技) is a Hangzhou-based chip company that has evolved from digital set-top box semiconductors into an AIoT chip provider. Founded in 2001, it became one of the world's leading set-top box chip suppliers with nearly 400 million units shipped globally by 2020, including over 30 million units in 2019 alone . The company pivoted into artificial intelligence in 2017, launching the industry's first IoT AI chip GX8010 with its self-developed neural network processor gxNPU, followed by the ultra-low-power GX8002 in 2020 with power consumption as low as 70uW . As of mid-2021, its AI business spanned smart speakers, in-vehicle systems, home appliances, and wearables, with partnerships across Alibaba, JD.com, Baidu, Rokid, iFlytek, and major TV makers like Skyworth, TCL, and Haier . Gaorong Ventures participated in its Series C round in October 2020, which was led by CITIC Securities Investment .
