PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University

PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University (清华大学五道口金融学院) is a graduate business school at Tsinghua University with deep roots in China's central banking system — its name derives from the People's Bank of China (PBC), reflecting its origins as the PBC Graduate School of Finance before merging into Tsinghua in 2012. It is a major research and teaching hub for finance, venture capital, and innovation policy in China.

Xuan Tian (田轩) serves as a Vice Dean of the school and as Dean of Tsinghua University's National Institute of Financial Research, positions he has held at least since mid-2024 . He is a chaired professor of finance whose research covers corporate finance, innovation, and venture capital, and he has become a prominent public voice on the evolution of China's VC market — including a widely noted 2024 speech tracing the industry's thirty-year history . The school also houses research centers such as the Global Family Business Research Center, whose director Gao Hao has conducted extensive studies on China's single-family offices .

The school's location in Beijing's Wudaokou neighborhood — long a gathering spot for Tsinghua and Peking University students — has made it a literal meeting ground for academic finance and startup culture. One founder, for instance, met his investor at a Wudaokou restaurant while still a doctoral student .
