Shengle Wang

Shengle Wang is a robotics engineer and founder of Xingmai Innovation (星迈创新, also known as BeatBot), a pool-cleaning robot company he established in January 2022 . Born in 1990 and raised in rural northern Jiangsu in extreme poverty, he began working in fields at age 10 and funded his schooling partly through loans . He spent 12 years in robotics before founding his own company: starting as an R&D engineer at Ecovacs where he developed a window-cleaning robot, then joining a leading consumer robotics unicorn in 2016 as co-founder and executive VP, helping scale it to tens of billions in revenue over six years .

His entry into pool robots came from nine months of deliberation and hands-on research—renting a villa with a pool, studying competitors, and reading 150,000 Amazon reviews to identify unmet demand for surface debris cleaning . Despite no prior U.S. experience and limited English, he first visited America seven months after founding the company, developing a conviction that premium pricing signals brand strength: Xingmai's debut product launched at over $2,000, triple the category leader's price and five times the market average, yet achieved $10 million in monthly sales . Monolith Capital, which has backed multiple rounds, described him as "like Yao Ming in the room" . As he put it in a 2025 interview, Xingmai aims for a "more restrained, more difficult path" focused on differentiated technology rather than homogeneous competition .
