Yu Long

Yu Long is the founding and managing partner of BAI Capital, the venture arm with roots in German media conglomerate Bertelsmann's resources and global network . In 2022 she was positioning BAI as "the hub for Chinese venture capital in Europe," with the firm then building out a Berlin office and investment team on the ground . She has also been an independent director at NIO, though notably BAI itself never invested in the EV maker—Yu Long once explained to 暗涌Waves that NIO was a game for bigger players . Her investment taste runs toward fintech, a theme BAI began systematically deploying into in 2014; by one disclosed count the firm had backed more than 20 companies in the space, with over half becoming segment leaders, 10 reaching scale profitability, and 7 achieving unicorn status . More recently she has turned attention to Mexico, organizing a trip for some 20 entrepreneurs and their families during the October 2024 presidential inauguration period, an excursion she reportedly called the "ceiling within a ceiling within a ceiling" .
