MaHui Founder | The Moment Your Emotions "Light Up" Could Reach 2 Million Children with Autism
"Emoji Donation" Builds China's Professional "Emoji Database"

In December 2007, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution designating April 2 of each year, starting from 2008, as "World Autism Awareness Day" to raise public awareness of autism, related research and diagnosis, and the needs of people with autism.
It is estimated that more than 10 million people in China are on the autism spectrum, including over 2 million children aged 0–14 with autism spectrum disorder.

When "Joy, Anger, Sorrow, and Happiness" Become Skills That Must Be Studied
"My child is always bullied at school. He can't read other people's expressions, can't tell whether someone is being kind to him or dislikes him, and doesn't know how to fight back when he's picked on. It's already hard enough to find a school that will accept him, but this can't go on forever. My son is only seven. What will happen when he grows up? I'm terrified, and I'm lost." This is how one mother of a child with autism left a message for a psychological counseling organization.
Autism spectrum disorder is characterized by repetitive, stereotyped behaviors and interests, along with deficits in social communication and interaction. Abnormal facial recognition is one of the most typical features of its social communication impairments.
The inability to recognize facial expressions manifests as bidirectional difficulties in emotional recognition during everyday social exchanges. This severely affects a patient's social motivation and ability to identify emotions. Joy, sadness, anger, fear — children who cannot read expressions not only fail to feel the love of parents and family but also frequently misread or fail to comprehend others' expressions in school and other social settings. They cannot distinguish genuine friendship from false, leaving them vulnerable to bullying and unfair treatment. Research shows that children with autism are three times more likely to suffer abuse than their neurotypical peers.
Autism rehabilitation often begins with facial expression recognition. Internationally, developed countries typically maintain professional expression databases for children with autism to study daily. Through learning expressions, they gradually improve their understanding of emotions and, step by step, their ability to communicate socially. Correctly recognizing and responding to expressions is foundational for children with autism spectrum disorder to integrate into society later in life. Expressions that come naturally to most people are skills that children with autism must work hard to acquire.
IBT Wujiang Technology
Building a Professional "Expression Database"
China does not yet have an expression database with a sufficiently large sample size, high quality, expert consensus, and suitability for Chinese children. With approval from the Beijing Hope Public Welfare Foundation, MaHui member company IBT Wujiang Technology established the "Beijing Hope Public Welfare Foundation Great Love Without Borders — China Mental Health Care Special Fund," and jointly launched the Great Love Without Borders "Expression Donation" public welfare initiative with the foundation. This initiative is dedicated to building a domestic expression database with a relatively large sample size, high quality, and professional standards for children with autism spectrum disorder in China, and to developing a digital intervention training system for self-directed expression learning and recognition. The system will be recommended to the medical system and provided free of charge to the 2 million children nationwide. We hope you will join us in creating a set of expressions that Chinese children with autism can learn from. Your moment of "joy, anger, sorrow, or happiness" could awaken 2 million children with autism.
