Deepening Full-Stack R&D to Advance Brain-Computer Interfaces Toward Clinical Application

Unity Ventures angel-round portfolio company Zhudong Technology has announced the completion of a 464 million RMB angel+ funding round.

Following its August 3 announcement of a 330 million RMB angel round, Zhudong Technology secured fresh backing from new and existing investors in less than three months. The two rounds combined total roughly 800 million RMB, setting a domestic record for angel-series fundraising in the brain-computer interface (BCI) sector.

Recently, Zhudong Technology announced the completion of its 464 million RMB angel+ round.

The round was co-led by Gaorong Ventures, Shanghai SDIC Pioneer Fund, and Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Group. Bayland Capital, China Internet Investment Fund, Guotai Haitong Securities, Shanghai Pudong Venture Capital Co., Ltd., Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Fund, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Capital, Minjin Investment, and Yunqi Capital joined as follow-on investors. Existing shareholders Dalton Venture, BGI-Songhe Capital, and Inno Capital added to their stakes.

Following its August 3 announcement of a 330 million RMB angel round, Zhudong Technology secured fresh backing from new and existing investors in less than three months, with combined funding across both rounds reaching roughly 800 million RMB.

Based on publicly disclosed financing information to date, this round sets a domestic record for angel+ fundraising in the BCI field, while the combined angel and angel+ total also marks a record for cumulative angel-series funding in China's BCI sector.

The proceeds will support the company's continued R&D, clinical translation, and industrialization of invasive BCI technology, while creating conditions for further industry partnerships.

Founded in February 2026, Zhudong Technology focuses on the R&D and commercialization of invasive brain-computer interfaces. Oriented toward clinical needs, the company has developed full-stack independent R&D capabilities spanning flexible electrodes, specialized chips, algorithms, and system integration, and has built a three-pillar product matrix covering motor, visual, and emotional BCI applications.

Its flagship motor BCI product, "Tianshu," targets motor and speech impairments caused by stroke, spinal cord injury, ALS, and other conditions, aiming to help patients rebuild motor function and their ability to interact with the external world.

In November 2025, the 1024-channel invasive BCI system developed by the company's core team obtained formal inspection certification, laying groundwork for subsequent clinical research and product translation. Visual and emotional BCI product lines are being developed in parallel, drawing on the team's scientific research积累 to expand applications across different clinical needs.

Looking ahead, Zhudong Technology will continue advancing core technology R&D and clinical translation across its three product lines—motor, visual, and emotional—while refining its R&D, production, and quality management systems and strengthening engineering and industrialization capabilities. While focusing on Class III medical devices and patient needs, the company will also explore convergence between BCI and artificial intelligence, embodied AI, and other fields, allowing technological innovation to benefit a broader user base.

Guojia Wu, CEO of Zhudong Technology, said: "We're grateful to new and existing shareholders for their trust in Zhudong Technology. These consecutive funding rounds provide more robust support for our next phase of development. We'll channel that trust into concrete work on R&D, clinical programs, and team building. Around our three product lines—motor, visual, and emotional—we'll set clear stage-by-stage goals and rigorously execute on product validation and engineering. Zhudong Technology's long-term objective is to build a BCI technology platform that can support multiple applications and continuous iteration. Medical demand is the starting point for our current work and an important benchmark for validating technological value. On this foundation, we'll gradually explore integration with AI and embodied AI, expanding the ways humans can communicate and collaborate with external devices. We hope to sustain this long-term path through solid incremental progress, so that our investment ultimately translates into tangible changes that patients and users can feel."
