MatriQ Atomic Matrix Raises Three Consecutive Rounds of Hundreds of Millions of Yuan in Six Months, Accelerating Toward Logical Qubits and Commercial Delivery | Unity Ventures Portfolio News
Achieving an engineering breakthrough that is demonstrable, verifiable, and iterable.
Recently, Unity Ventures angel-round portfolio company MatriQ announced the completion of its Series A funding. The round was led by Monolith, with Minyin International participating, and existing shareholders Vertex Ventures China and L2F LightSource Capital Entrepreneurs Fund continuing to invest above their pro-rata allocations. With this, MatriQ has completed three consecutive rounds totaling several hundred million yuan within just six months — a strong validation of capital markets' confidence in the feasibility of its technical approach and the effectiveness of its commercialization efforts.
The neutral-atom quantum computing track continues to heat up, with an ever-growing number of market participants. Industry consensus is gradually forming around the core dimensions for evaluating the technical maturity of neutral-atom companies: whether the full system can be demonstrated on physical hardware; whether it possesses large-scale programmable atomic rearrangement capabilities, achieving the transition from random loading to defect-free array preparation; whether it has entered the stage of quantum error correction and logical qubit generation; and whether technical results can be validated by users. These are precisely the areas MatriQ has focused on over the past year and more.
As one of the earliest neutral-atom full-system startups in China, MatriQ has rapidly iterated and commercialized over a decade of technical accumulation from top-tier physics research institutions, moving from the laboratory toward real-world industrial deployment and commercial delivery — positioning it to be among the first to achieve commercial operation of quantum computers.

"Real-Machine Company": Achieving Demonstrable, Verifiable, and Iterative Engineering Breakthroughs
In quantum computing, the gap between "deployed hardware" and "theoretical papers" often represents the critical watershed determining whether a company can enter the industrialization track. MatriQ has successfully crossed this threshold, completing the full build-out of a neutral-atom quantum computing system and formally entering a demonstrable, verifiable, and iterative engineering phase.
The MatriQ team has stably constructed and operated a 2,048-qubit defect-free physical qubit array. The system supports a zoned architecture with dedicated storage and entanglement regions, enabling high-fidelity global and local single-qubit gates as well as global two-qubit gate operations. The full system can be demonstrated live on-site and operates with sustained stability.

Large-Scale Array Rearrangement and Error Correction: Gradually Advancing from Physical to Logical Qubits
Recently, the MatriQ team demonstrated key capabilities for scalable neutral-atom quantum computing systems: large-scale programmable atomic rearrangement and atomic transport based on a "storage-entanglement" zoned architecture — reaching internationally leading levels. The former transforms randomly loaded atoms into ordered, defect-free arrays through rearrangement, demonstrating the system's ability to prepare large-scale quantum processors; the latter enables dynamic reconfiguration of storage and entanglement zones within the same system, providing the underlying motional capabilities for error correction, logical operations, and fault-tolerant quantum computing (FTQC). Going forward, the MatriQ team will continue to publicly demonstrate complete quantum error correction cycles (QEC cycles).

Customer and Scenario Validation: From Laboratory to Real-World Industrial Deployment
The core value of technology must ultimately be tested through delivery in real-world scenarios. Drawing on years of accumulation from top-tier laboratories and early-stage entrepreneurship by its specialized team, MatriQ has completed technical finalization and commercial refinement of its first commercial product, transitioning comprehensively from technology R&D to market commercialization. It is now actively engaging with its first batch of benchmark customers to advance pilot collaborations and scenario-based testing.
Going forward, MatriQ will simultaneously accelerate along three main tracks: full-system engineering optimization, logical qubit technology breakthroughs, and commercial delivery advancement. From laboratory to real commercial environments, from system deployment to cloud-based services, MatriQ is steadily advancing along a clear industrialization path for neutral-atom quantum computing toward the long-term goal of general-purpose quantum computing.
