Eric Xu

Eric Xu (徐威) is a co-founder and CTO of Manifold Tech (留形科技), a startup building spatial perception systems for embodied AI and mobile robotics . He founded the company in 2022 with fellow HKU PhD Aaron Qin (秦佑铭), both having graduated from the MaRS Lab where Xu was first author on FAST-LIO, a widely-used LiDAR-inertial odometry algorithm . Their first-generation device sold for roughly RMB 70,000–80,000 as a multi-sensor assembly , and per ZhenFund's reporting the company turned profitable within three months of product launch . Xu and Qin met at HKU's Haking Wong Building and spent their early days testing algorithms together, including drone flight experiments .
