Jiawei Gu

Jiawei Gu is a serial entrepreneur in AI hardware and human-computer interaction, currently founder of Ling Universe (灵宇宙), an AI consumer hardware company he established in 2023 . His career began at Microsoft Research Asia after graduating from Tsinghua University in 2010, followed by a stint at Baidu's deep learning institute where he led development of products like Baidu Eye and DuBike . He later founded Wuling Technology (物灵科技), whose AI companion reading robot Luka sold nearly ten million units across 18 countries . At Ling Universe, he has pursued rapid capitalization—the company completed three funding rounds within its first six months from investors including Linear Capital, SenseTime, and 37 Interactive Entertainment , and raised a further 200 million yuan in Pre-A funding in November 2025 . The company's flagship product, an AI learning companion called "Xiaofangji" (小方机), topped sales charts during the 2025 618 shopping festival and saw 230% sales growth during Singles' Day . Gu describes his product philosophy as making devices "disappear" into daily life rather than making them merely smarter .
