Luchen Tech (潞晨科技) is an AI infrastructure company founded around 2021 by Yang You, a professor who previously researched distributed computing and high-performance computing at UC Berkeley and NUS and once set world records for ImageNet and BERT training speeds; he started the company on the conviction that large models were the trend, aiming to lower the barrier to deploying them. Its core product is Colossal-AI, a general-purpose deep learning system for the large-model era, built into integrated machines and a cloud platform that saw rapid revenue growth in its early days; by 2024 the company had also moved into building a video-generation foundation model, with founder-chairman Yang You publicly explaining that push.

On the financing and partner side, BlueRun Ventures is its angel-round investor and has repeatedly listed Luchen Tech among its flagship AI portfolio companies alongside Moonshot AI and Zhiyuan Robotics, and ZhenFund also counts it as a portfolio company. The company has raised several hundred-million-RMB rounds (A round in 2023, A++ by late 2024), and in 2024 ZhenFund coverage noted a valuation ambition in the tens of billions of RMB. Partnerships include working with Huawei on Ascend hardware (910B and the then-upcoming 910C, alongside Nvidia's H20) since late 2023, and a collaboration with BioMap applying Colossal-AI to protein structure prediction for drug discovery.
