Temasek is the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund that owns and operates Vertex Ventures China (known as 祥峰投资), an early-stage venture capital firm it established in 1988 . Vertex Ventures China ranks as one of Asia's longest-running VC firms and, despite its dollar-fund origins, has since 2008 built a distinctly onshore RMB practice in China—its Beijing office sits among the cluster of investment firms in the Guomao CBD, with meeting rooms named after China's four great inventions . In the venture market, Temasek and its affiliates show up as repeat backers of growth-stage tech companies: Pavilion Capital, a Temasek unit, joined follow-on rounds for AI infrastructure firm Zilliz in 2022 , and Temasek itself participated in ShareChat's $255 million funding at a $5 billion valuation that same year . The fund also turns up in corporate-innovation circles, with its representatives joining strategy salons alongside the likes of Bosch, Alibaba, and Sinochem .
