Westlake Omics

Westlake Omics is a Hangzhou-based biotech startup founded in July 2020 that applies proteomics research to precision-assisted diagnostics, combining mass spectrometry-based sample digitization with artificial intelligence to develop new clinical diagnostic methods for cancers and metabolic diseases . The company was established by Dr. Guo Tiannan, a proteomics expert and specially appointed researcher at Westlake University's School of Life Sciences, who has produced multiple original technical advances in proteomics technology development and application .

In its early funding, Westlake Omics raised tens of millions of RMB in seed funding in March 2021 with Gaorong Ventures as a co-lead investor , followed by a Pre-A round of hundreds of millions of RMB in January 2022 co-led by Efung Capital and Hillhouse Venture Capital, with Gaorong Ventures, Mefang Capital, and Xihu Science and Technology Innovation Investment participating . The company has since expanded into spatial proteomics, launching a ProteomEx-based research service in late 2022 that enables spatially resolved protein analysis at high resolution for applications including brain and breast cancer tissue studies .
