Xiaojian Li

Xiaojian Li is a neuroengineering researcher and founder of Weiling Medical (微灵医疗), a Shenzhen-based brain-computer interface startup that claims to be the first Chinese company to build a full-stack fully implantable BCI system . He spent eight years in the U.S. doing implantable BCI research on visual and motor systems at Georgia Regents University and Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine before returning to China in 2018 to join the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he holds the rank of senior engineer . His company, founded after his return, focuses on medical-grade wireless implantable BCIs for serious clinical needs—movement and sensory restoration, psychiatric diagnosis, and major brain diseases—rather than consumer "digital immortality" applications .
