Xiaojian Li

Xiaojian Li is a neuroengineer and founder of Weiling Medical (微灵医疗), a Shenzhen-based company developing fully implantable, medical-grade brain-computer interfaces . He returned to China in autumn 2018 after spending 2010–2018 at Georgia Regents University and Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, where he worked on implantable BCIs for visual and motor systems . Upon returning, he established the Brain-Computer Intelligence Fusion Technology Laboratory at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and claims to have been the first in China to build an autonomous technology chain for implantable BCI systems . Weiling Medical, which he founded, positions itself as the first domestic company to achieve a full-stack fully implantable BCI technology chain, with a focus on serious medical needs such as central nervous system critical care rather than consumer applications . The company raised over 100 million yuan in August 2026 to accelerate clinical translation .
